Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with the c300iii? I already have the Shape Arms and only want to swap out the handles with the grip remote, like the option previously offered with the mark i and ii.

A: It will not as this is specifically for the C200.

Q: 2. What do I need to use this either with a C100 mark II or a 5d mark IV?

A: Hello JimThank you for your question! For the C100 Mark ii, you do not need anything else than this rig. The main baseplate of this shoulder mount was specifically designed for the Canon C series cameras (C100-C300-C500). So it should fit fine. As for the 5D Mark IV, if the optical center is not an issue, it should be ok, if it is, you can still use it but adding accessories like a mattebox might be a bit tricky. For more detailed info, please call us at 1.888.968.9810We hope this answers your questions and we thank you for your interest in our products. The SHAPE team

Q: 3. Will this rig work with a C100 AND a C300 Mark ii?

A: Hello Julia,Thank you for your question! The baseplate in this rig was not designed for the C100 and C300 MKii. It was designed to fit the C300 mark i. It can work, but won't be ideal and might not respect the optical center of those cameras. For instance, the C300 mark ii is a bigger camera, so if you want to add a mattebox, it might not be centered. At that point, we cannot guarantee it will fit perfectly. We hope this helps and we thank you for your interest in our products. The SHAPE team

Q: 4. Will this work with the C300mk2?

A: Hello Chris, Thank you for reaching out to us! The grip relocator you will need for the C300 MkII is actually this one: https://www.shapewlb.com/en/product/brands/canon-camera-supports/canon-eos-c100-c300-c500/canon-c-series-grip-relocator_898.aspx?id_page_parent=1287. This unit includes the aluminum bracket which needs to be inserted in our Push Button, part of our handles, and the male-female cable to plug into the camera. We hope this helps and we thank you for your interest in our products. The SHAPE team.

Q: 5. What's the main difference between this and the Shape Offset Rig?

A: The difference between this product and the Offset Version, which is B&H # SHC100OF, is the Offset configuration itself. The Standard Version has 2 longer 15mm rods that go straight from the handles to the shoulder pad. The offset rig has two shorter sets of 15mm rods and an offset bracket. Some prefer the offset design because it puts the camera directly in front of your eyes for use.https://bhpho.to/2b1Xcio

Q: 6. Do you need to buy an extension cable for the monitor?

A: No, you won't need an extension cable for the monitor. The cable provided with C200 is plenty long enough to work with this cage system.

Q: 7. Do you need a counterbalance if you're not using a battery brick?

A: That will depend on how you set up the C200 and if that set up makes the rig front heavy. Here is a 1.8 pound counter balance from Lanparte that attaches through 15mm rods. https://bhpho.to/36XEv9W

Q: 8. Is this plate identical to the bottom plate that is included in the full cage by Shape for the c200?

A: Hi Jason, yes this is the same plate that we use for the C200 cage.

Q: 9. I'm looking for a rig that has a quick and easy transition during events from handheld mode to tripod. Would you recommend this?

A: You can screw a plate to the bottom of the baseplate. So, if you are willing to leave the baseplate on and rails then it would be fast.

Q: 10. Can I relocate the remote handle to the handles on the shoulder mount?

A: Hello! Thank you for your question! You can indeed remove the rubber handle on the unit and insert the C300 bracket designed to attach the remote handle of the camera. We hope this helps and we thank you for your interest in our products. The SHAPE team

I need to start by saying that I am a film director and cinematographer. My interest in this camera is for shooting feature films. I waited a long time and explored a lot of different cameras. For me it really came down to image. As this camera comes out of the box, its pictures are terrific. I've tried other camera s and I was never able to get them to look as good. If you've never shot Raw, its a revelation. Its the closest you'll get to film. The images from this camera are genius.

The camera is built like a tank and the menus are well thought out. The only thing that I think is missing is Variable Frame Rates (i.e. 22fps 20fps 18fps etc.) If you shoot action sequences you need this) I'm not going to complain like others about the lack of Apple Pro-Res 10 bit. It would be nice but actually the Canon Log 3 coupled with MP4 does a descent job. I don't really care. Make no mistake, this camera can hold its own against the Alexa and Red.

In RAW, this is one amazing camera. It's lighter than the C300/C500, but the image quality in RAW is just kinda, well, amazing. Canon color is my favorite, and this camera sings in daylight, artificial light, and mixed light situations. (My only wish is for Canon to make a bigger monitor for it with all the touch-screen functionality. THAT would be six stars.)

The best camera i have ever owned professionally. I have trusted canon and sony to handle to capture my professional Photography and Videography services. So far this camera did not disappoint me paired with Atomos Shogun Inferno. The codec might be improve though from 8 bit to 10 bit , but honestly capturing in Raw 4K internally is a game changer.

Do not hesitate to buy this camera as this is the best investment you can make for your self and your client.

I always see a ton of people complaining about the lack of 10-bit... but it HAS 10-bit and even 12-bit if you want to record to C-fast cards (which are cheap compared to RED media). However, we use the 4K 24P and 60P settings in 8-bit all day, every day. Straight to SD cards, which are cheap. I notice about a 1-stop loss in dynamic range compared to recording in RAW, so for 95% of the stuff we do, it's fantastic (corporate, brand, social, tons of interviews + b-roll). And if we need an extra punch, we switch it to RAW for a few shots. Built-in ND's, touch screen autofocus is amazing, easy to go handheld, and reliable. Incredibly reliable. We have 4 of them.
