If you are in a controlled set up and you know for a fact what size of speed rail you always will be using, do save your money and get the original style.However, if you are working freelance, and someone else will be supplying the speed rail, save your self the grief of failure on set because the ends you have don't fit and you can't shoot. Get the universal. They are worth the piece of mind in that situation.
