Tiffen 52mm Warm Soft/fx 4 Filter

Tiffen 52mm Warm Soft/fx 4 Filter
  • Product Code: ga4989
  • Availability: In Stock

$161.97 $252.67

The Tiffen 52mm Warm Soft/FX 4 Filter can be applied to create a warm cast over an entire image while purposely reducing the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles in portraits, or to apply a general soft-focus effect while maintaining overall sharpness. An array of small lenses distributed within the surface of this filter smooths fine lines and textures, which can be useful for creating a more flattering result of a subject.

The warming effect of this filter can be obtained under daylight when this filter is used on a film camera system with daylight film installed, or on a digital camera system with its daylight white balance setting selected. This filter's overall coloration reflects a mired shift value of +45.

This filter has a grade of 4. Grades of 1/2, 1, 2, 3, and 5 are also available where this filter type's effect becomes approximately twice as strong with each grade number increase. When higher grade numbers are applied, a halation effect around highlights can be created to further enhance a subject's appearance or produce a desired effect.

This filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity. It is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

A: If you are referring to the Nikon 14-24 mm F2.8 lens, that 82mm filter will not fit . There are a few filter holders available for that lens, here is a link to a good one. https://bhpho.to/2EnYPGZ These holders use square 150 x 150 mm filters. https://bhpho.to/2ZSRV4g

Q: 5. Is this the correct filter holder for a B+W 52mm 0.9 ND MRC 103M Filter? I am using a Canon 300 2.8II lens. How do I remove the clear filter to use the B&W ND filter?

A: Hello Wayne C,This is the correct filter holder for a 52mm screw-in filter for the Canon 300mm f2.8 II lens. I am not familiar with the B+W 52mm 0.9 ND MRC 103M filter, but I do use Hoya Pro ND 52mm filters with this Canon drop-in filter holder. The Hoya Pro ND filters are just thin enough to fit in the drop-in holder in the 300 f2.8 II lens. Any slim or low-profile filter would fit and medium thickness filters should be fine, but thick filters may not fit.To use the the new drop-in filter holder with a 52mm filter, you first have to remove the entire gel filter holder that came with the 300mm f2.8 II lens originally - by squeezing the two external metal knobs towards each other and sliding the holder out of the lens.Best wishes,David

Q: 6. Will this work with the 300mm 2.8l is mk1?

Q: 7. I see the warning on the webpage but is this filter appropriate to take pictures of the 2024 eclipse using a digital camera?

A: Yes, as the Tiffen Solar ND Filter (67mm, 18-Stop, Special 50th Anniversary Edition) is designed for solar photography usage, it would be compatible for use to photograph the upcoming solar eclipse on October 14, 2023.

Q: 8. What is the difference between close-up lenses and extension tubes? Is one better than the other for close up work?

A: Close-up lenses are less expensive and will allow the use of all electronic functions of the lens. They are like putting a magnifier in front of the lens. However image quality is slightly degraded due to adding another optical element. Extension tubes magnify by increasing lens distance but you will lose some functions of the lens.

Q: 9. Can I use with Nikon P1000 ?

A: Yes, the P1000 is compatible with this filter.

Q: 10. Does this fit the Sony SEL55210?

It does what a polarizer is suppose to do well and it adds a nice bit of warm tone to the image.

As with other Hoya filters I own, this one is of very high quality. Spectacular results. If you like punching up colors, this is the filter for you.

This is a very nice filter that will bring improve contrast and bring out certain colors and cut down on haze. Nice for making the water look like glass as it cuts reflection. Just be aware that it will tend to make scenes a bit darker than normal so you'll need to play with shutter speed setting, aperture, ISO etc. and maybe use exposure bracketing to get the best picture.

This filter works great for me as I shoot a lot of photographs outdoors near the beach. It helps to remove the brightness of the sun and really give my photos a more natural look. If I am outdoors in the daylight hours it is always on my camera. Thanks Moose Peterson for putting together such an enjoyable camera/lens accessory.

Helps to create an image not quite as stark (for want of a better word) as results from a standard polarizer.

I find I turn to this filter every time I am shooting outdoors no matter what time of day. Early morning, mid day and late evening this filter improves the overall look and removes any harsh light from your scene. The warming effect also softens the photo in ways which appear very natural. You will be amazed at the appearance your photos have just using this filter.

Recently bought a new DSLR, needed a polarizer and found an old friend,Moose's Warm CP. I had one for many years with my 35mm cameras and found it to be ideal for blocking and warming some of our particularly bright sunlight in Arizona. Beautiful results in the desert, and great on the Colorado Plateau are, including northern AZ & southern UT. Highly recommend.
