The Royer R-10-MP is a matched pair of passive ribbon microphones designed to deliver smooth, full-range frequency reproduction and high SPL handling for musicians, recording engineers, and live sound mixers in home studios, recording facilities, and live stage applications. Handbuilt in California, each mic features a high maximum SPL of 135 dB at 50 Hz and 160 dB at 1 kHz, and a wide, unhyped frequency response of 30 Hz to 15 kHz. The R-10 utilizes a standard XLR 3-pin output and does not require phantom power.

Its figure-8 polar pattern allows pickup of sounds from the front and back of the mic, while maximizing sound rejection from both sides. This provides a directional focus in front of the microphone and allows room reflections behind the mic to be captured. The 2.5-micron aluminum ribbon element is protected from vibrations via an internal shockmount. A three-layer windscreen system tames plosives, strong bursts of air, and proximity-induced bass buildup. The wiring of the ribbon results in humbucking, which aids in preventing noise produced through electromagnetic interference.

The R-10-MP ships with two microphone holders, two mic socks, and a carrying case.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is that round bump on the side of the housing a screw? I'm wondering if the XLR connector can be rotated inside the housing; currently it's oriented 90 degrees wrong for essentially every recorder on the market.

A: Hi Alex, I just saw your question regarding the Phillips screw on the side of the CEntrance PivotMic PM1 XY Stereo Condenser Recording Microphones. The screw is used in assembly to secure the mic's internal components to the housing and to keep the 3-pin connector in place. The XLR connector cannot be rotated inside of the housing. The screw should not be removed.

Q: 2. Is this suitable for stereo Audio/Video recording in an X/Y arrangement?

A: Yes. This is a matched stereo pair.

Q: 3. Are these mics worth purchasing for large group interviews, such as interviewing an 8 piece party band? Looking to capture superb sound on a budget.

A: These would not be the best choice for interviews. Please contact us via telephone or via e-mail so we can learn more details regarding your projects/applications. 800.606.6969 / 212.444.6615 -----------------------------------Audio@bandh.com

Q: 4. Can I plug this into a 3.5mm mini input on my DSLR and camcorder with a Kopul LMT-100 adapter on the end?. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/885062-REG/kopul_lmt_100_lo_to_hi_impedance.html

A: This mic can not be directly plugged into the 3.5mm input of a camera since they require 48v to operate. If you did want to connect this to a camera, you would a mixer with an xlr input and phantom power such as this BH #SASRPAX1.

Q: 5. Does the Royer Labs-121 come with a case inside the box? If so, is it the one advertised in BH for 50 USD? Same "q" for the Sh57

A: For the Royer Labs R-121 and Shure SM57 Guitar Recording Kit, the R-121 includes a protective wood box and the SM57 comes with a padded bag.

Q: 6. how do I register?

A: Follow this link to register:a href= http://en.rode.com/warranty/step1 target= _blank http://en.rode.com/warranty/step1/a

Q: 7. Can these mics be used for dialogue (indoor) in a low budget film?

A: Not effectively. These mics are meant for recording sound from a distance and are not directional, so they will pick up sound from all around where they are pointed. I used these mics for recording a choir concert and they worked great. You would really want a shotgun directional mic.

Q: 8. What windscreen and windjammer are suitable for these microphones?

A: There is no windshield made specifically for the CEntrance PivotMic PM1 XY Stereo Condenser Recording Microphone, but you could potentially use a windjammer such as B&H # AUWRWH4N.

Q: 9. Does it come with the case, mount and XLR adapter?

A: The Coles Microphones 4038 Studio Ribbon Microphone comes with an XLR cable, a soft cloth bag, a rigid carrying case, and a simple clip. The elastic suspension mount is sold separately (BH #CO4038SM).

Q: 10. This is a 2 microphone package (stereo pair) for $159? or just one mic for that price?

A: Yes, this package comes with two mics (stereo pair) plus the shock mounts for both, along with a carrying case.
