Although I usually choose Sony for my point & shoot digital cameras, after doing my research, I found the Canon PowerShot SX730 HS to be exactly what I was looking for. After nearly one month of using this camera daily on my European vacation, I found it absolutely perfect for my needs. The price was comparable to others that offered similar, but not all the features that this camera has, and it was reasonably priced at $379.00 from B & H Photo. Secondly, this camera takes spectacular pictures, allows me to edit them within the camera itself, and/or send the pictures wirelessly to my iPhone, a process which took me a while to understand, but once I figured it out, I was able to transfer my photos quickly. In Europe, the WIFI connection was not always perfect. So, sometimes while transferring my photos, I would lose the connection and have to start over. I imagine that would happen with any other similar camera under the same circumstances. I don't expect to have that same issue here in the States. I mostly used the AUTO setting, but will now explore the other features. The camera was reliable, the battery kept its charge throughout each day, and it was easy to use. I simply charged the battery and had it ready for the next tour day. I particularly liked the selfie feature, which worked quite smoothly. I also like the fact that the flash doesn't pop up unless and until you manually move the switch. This is especially helpful because, just like my former Sony digital camera, the flash would pop up where most people want to place their left hand index finger. It was always a pain having to tell people not to put their finger there. This eliminates that issue. The only con was when I returned home and wanted to wirelessly transfer my pictures to my MacBook Pro Version 10.11.6. Presently, this camera does not have that capability. I contacted a Canon rep who guided me through the process of uploading my pictures to their cloud. It worked quickly & perfectly.

Bought this to replace my previous Power Shot 710 HS because I dropped and the lens jammed. Use for personal photos. Love the burn date to image feature that is the main reason for purchasing. Also use to make a movie with my Grandson - he is the creative guy, I just run the camera. We used the Power Shot 710 HS the last two summers and we are really please with this model, love that sound is played back when review scenes.

This small camera is an excellent little camera which can fit in a shirt pocket. While it is a small 1/2.3 sensor and not as good as my 1 sensor G3X, it produces very good photos; and the 40X optical zoom makes it very useful. As an aside, I used it side by side with a Panasonic Lumix ZS70 pocket camera. The ZS70 has a few more features, but the overall IQ of the SX730HS was far superior, especially at ISO 400 or greater. I sold the ZS70 and kept the SX730HS. The SX730HS does an excellent job for its size; and I would recommend it as a backup or for use where a full sized camera might not be usable.

After having received it and trying it out, I'm very impressed with this camera. Fantastic zoom, great picture quality, extremely compact size, fast focus - everything I was looking for. Quality of build also appears to be very good. Be aware, however, that this camera is heavy given its compact size. Feels like it weighs as much as my DLSR. None-the-less, I am extremely happy with this purchase. Even have taken a good night shot of the full moon.

2 years ago, I bought one SX710HS 30X zoom , I really like it , that why this time I up grade to the newer model SX 713 HS with better zoom 40X

What a great camera. Not being a photographer, but in need of a good camera to take products shots. Doing test shots I set it on Auto, and they all came out beautifully.



I love the 40x zoom, which means I can shoot from a block away or more, and end up with a clear image of what is far away.


The camera bag and card are a real plus.

This is a great camera that is easy to use and takes very clear pictures. Perfect for an aspiring photographer.

I recently traveled with this camera, did not want to bring my Rebel and all its lenses. Used it outside, with and without sun (raining) and inside. Very happy with how it handled, the zoom is on point and the picture quality outstanding. Very pleased with the purchase. I bought a much less expensive Canon to bring on vacation last year and clearly see the difference. Worth the investment.
