Q: 5. Am traveling to NZ/Australia/Hong Kong; do I need a converter for this to work properly or will a (mere) adapter suffice?

A: The charger is spec'd for 100 to 240 volts, 50/60 Hz. NZ, Australia, and Hong Kong all run with 240 volts, so it will work with a simple adapter. No converter is needed.

Ingenious design allows for interchange of different battery adapters on the same base (a handy feature if you use Oly's OM-D EM-1 Mark I and II, which take different batteries). Love that it plugs directly into an outlet (no need for a cable) or can use a USB cable. Charges at least as fast as Oly's branded charger with about the same bulk and more convenience.

Charges a bit slower than the Olympus charger but it works and comes with a car charger as well. An economical way to have charges at two locations or simply as a backup.

My Olympus battery charge just quit ... stop charging ... and the Olympus wants $54 for a new charger? The Watson charger is less than half the price ... and recharges the battery just like to OEM.
Also the size is small and great for travel.

Note: the Watson brand only has 2 prongs that connect to the battery ... so it takes more time to charge ... but charging time has not been an issue since I recharge the battery in the evening (overnight) after a day of shooting images.

charges slower than the Olympus version but much cheaper, charges battery fully and additionally which is why 5 stars it has ability to charge in car. If your batteries fun low at site like Conawingo or others like that you can simply recharge in your car and get back to photography.
