Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I ordered the Alesis Recital Pro 88-key digital piano bundle. Do I need batteries or cables?

A: The Alesis Recital Pro 88-Key Digital Piano can be powered using the included AC power adapter or with six D batteries (batteries are not included). For cables, if you are going to connect the keyboard to an amplifier with a 1/4" input (or two 1/4" inputs), you can use a cable like the Pearstone PM-TRS 1/4" TRS Male to 1/4" TRS Male Interconnect Cable - 10' (B&H # PEPMTRS10) in any length you prefer. The keyboard's left output is for mono output or you can use both the left and right outputs for stereo audio.

Q: 2. Does this keyboard have MIDI capabilities for using with audio software like Studio One ?

A: Yes, this keyboard features MIDI over USB.

Q: 3. Can this be plugged into a mac (without an audio interface) to use the virtual instruments in Logic Pro?

A: Yes, the Alesis Concert 88-Key Digital Piano can be connected to a computer without the need for a USB audio interface. You can use a USB cable like the Pearstone USB 2.0 Type-A Male to Type-B Male Cable - 10' (B&H # PECUAMUBM10) to connect the piano to your computer and you will be able to use the virtual instruments in Logic Pro or other DAW software.

Q: 4. Deciding between the Recital and the concert models. is the key feel very different? hammer vs semiweighted adustable feel

A: Yes, there is a difference in the feel of the hammer action and semi-weighted keys on the Alesis Recital Pro and Concert 88-Key Digital Pianos. Hammer action keys can also be referred to as "fully-weighted" and the keys are heavier and can be harder to press down than semi-weighted keys which are lighter and very easy to press. Hammer action keyboards are often favored by players who have experience playing a traditional acoustic piano as this type of keyboard requires more strength and finger dexterity. There are also players who prefer the ease of semi-weighted keys. The sound of the piano can be the same whether the keyboard has hammer action or semi-weighted keys. Keyboards with semi-weighted keys are typically lighter, less expensive, and more portable. This is also true for the Alesis Recital Pro and Concert 88-Key Digital Pianos. There is a considerable difference in the weight of the two models. The Recital Pro weighs 26 pounds while the Concert model weighs 15.6 pounds.

Q: 5. Are the keys weighted?

A: The Keys one the Recital Pro 88 are full weighted hammer graded action keys.

Q: 6. What are the dimensions of the FP-10 Digital Piano and the KSC-FP10-BK Stand when assembled?

A: The dimensions of the FP-10 keyboard only (without the music rest and without the KSC-FP10 stand) are 50.5 x 10.2 x 5.5" (1284 x 258 x 140mm). Dimensions of FP-10 keyboard with the music rest attached and mounted on the KSC-FP10 stand are 50.5 x 11.7 x 36.6" (1284 x 298 x 929mm).

Q: 7. Does this come with the pedals as well?

A: This digital piano comes with the stand and 3 pedals (damper, soft, sostenuto,) as pictured.

Q: 8. Does it have usb connection? Can I connect my iPad via Bluetooth (cubasis) ?

A: This does have a USB MIDI connection. As for bluetooth, you can connect an iPad via bluetooth and use Rolands Piano Partner 2 app. Bluetooth MIDI functionality may vary depending on other apps used.

Q: 9. Will this keyboard work with the Korg midi software?

A: In MIDI Mode, this keyboard should work with any MIDI software.

Q: 10. Yes. That's what split and layer means. My question was whether or not it would layer and split at the same time. Please read this example: Bass on bottom and LAYERING piano and strings in the top?

A: The Layer Mode and the Split Mode on the Alesis Prestige 88-Key Digital Piano function separately and not simultaneously. On the model up, which is the Alesis Prestige Artist 88-Key Digital Piano (B&H # ALPRESTIGEAR), the Layer Mode and the Split Mode can be used at the same time. However, the manual notes that when you are using the Split Mode and the Layer Mode at the same time, the right-hand zone of the split will play both of the layered voices, and the left-hand zone of the split will play the split voice only. I am not certain whether the Prestige Artist model might provide the configuration that you desire, but it will allow you to use both the Layer Mode and the Split Mode simultaneously.

Thank You, I finally found a keyboard with a quality, effective sound for a reasonable price!! This is my 5th keyboard and I'm very pleased. Now I have a keyboard to travel with that worth it's weight. I love also the fully weighted keys when playing! My major is music and Exercise science

Hey Guys, I'm a beginner at all this keyboard stuff, but I think unless you go 88 keys from the start, you aren't really doing yourself any favors. I do wish it had the lighted key feature like the Casio, some people say that just slows the learning process. Anyway, I'm getting on it and hope to be writing my own music soon. Be cool, and Good Luck.

I am very happy with my new keyboard. The quality is what I had hoped for. The stand and bench are nicer than I expected.

This was such a great deal. For the price, I am impressed with the feel of the keys and the simplicity of use. I appreciate that it isn't overly digital because it keeps my daughter focused on the basics.

This outfit is a great value with great sound as well! This instrument is a perfect choice when you don't have the space or the $$$ for a full size piano. I've been using the piano and bright piano settings and can't decide which I like best (I've also been using the harpsichord setting for baroque). The keys and keyboard are full-sized and, with the stand at it's lowest position, a full height (28-1/2) - the same as a Steinway grand. I'm using a task chair in lieu of the bench right now, but will use the bench once I find the best height and position relative to the keyboard for me. The sustain pedal works exactly the way it should with a slow decay of the notes' volume, independent of one another. The soft plastic snap-on cover for the pedal helps to keep your foot from sliding off - very handy. The polarity switch on the pedal was set up correctly from the factory for the Alesis.

So this is not B&H's fault at all, but Fedex delivered everything except the piano on time. The piano took an extra 5 days which was very frustrating. But, once I finally got it and set it up, I was very impressed with the quality. keys feel great and are good to practice with, the speakers have very good sound and volume (same when you plug in headphones), all of the added voices and split and layer functions are very fun to use and practice with. Easy set up with midi controller or software on your laptop with necessary cords. The biggest part for me was the price, it was cheaper than most places for the piano alone AND it came with the bench, pedal, and stand which would usually be an extra $60 or more. Definitely recommend for beginners or for people with more experience but a tighter budget.

I have been waiting a few years to invest in a keyboard piano with weighted keys. I've had a week to play around with the Alesis and I am ecstatic to continue to rekindle my love for piano. This set is perfect, comes with everything you need. The keys feel like a real piano! Its also a lot bigger than I had anticipated but that isn't a bad thing :)

I got this whole set at $400 including tax. All of this would easily cost me $450-$500 from Amazon. The packaging and delivery was great! The electric piano itself is also excellent for this price. No complains. I love everything about it!

This is a great piano package. The price was affordable and it arrived within a week! The keys feel very close to an acoustic piano. And the sound is good too. Easy to understand controls. And it can hook up to a computer for interactive learning software. If you're looking for a full size keyboard without spending a lot I recommend this piano package

Bought this for my wife who has wanted to learn to play for years. Great price on this combination and the service was excellent, as always. We looked at Casio and Yamaha but finally decided on the Alesis after researching. The wife loves it... that's what mappers!
