The Virtual Reality Aluminum Base from Manfrotto is a compact, lightweight, and portable support that has a load capacity of 8.8 lb and it is compatible with VR extension booms and supports VR cameras. With two variable leg angles of 23° and 51°, you can spread the legs and stabilize a VR camera on uneven terrain, and the support's rubber feet prevent the 1-section legs from sliding or slipping on smooth surfaces. In addition, the base has a maximum height of 16.1" and a minimum height of 8.3", so your VR camera can get closer to the ground. The tripod weighs 1.3 lb and afterwards, when the aluminum base is not in use, the support folds down to 11.8" for storage and transport.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. why are the specs for the aluminum and carbon manfrotto 290 exactly the same?

A: Hi, the carbon fiber version is actually very slightly lighter and has a very slightly smaller diameter: the actual weight of the aluminum version is 1.19 lbs. and the weight of the carbon fiber version is 1.1 lbs.. The diameter of the carbon fiber version is less than .5" smaller than the diameter of the aluminum version. The differences were lost in rounding the measurements in our description.

Q: 2. Hi, is this compatible with manfrotto MMXPROA3 (A4890056) Bought in Canada? Thanks

A: Sorry, Manfrotto does not list the Manfrotto XPRO Fluid Base as an accessory for this monopod.

Q: 3. What's the difference between this base and the Manfrotto MVA50A Fluid Base? I'm going to use it with my XPRO Monopod.

A: if you have an XPRO monopod, get the XPRO base. it screws in and was designed for the XPRO series. the older base attached differently. also, this base can lock perpendicular, which the older one couldn't do.

Q: 4. What is the inside diameter of the top where the 1/4-20 screw thread is located? I want to adapt it to a different brand of monopod.

A: The inside diameter is almost exactly 1/2

Q: 5. Will this work with the Manfrotto Element Aluminum Monopod (Red)?https://a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1296072-REG/manfrotto_mmelea5rd_element_aluminum_monopod_red.html target= _blank www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1296072-REG/manfrotto_mmelea5rd_element_aluminum_monopod_red.html/a

A: Yes

Q: 6. Whats the difference between this new fluid base and the older monopod FDS Fluid Drag system?

A: It is a smoother pan and has a lock.

Q: 7. whats the weight load max for poles and clips?

A: I have not tested the maximum weight the super clamp can support but it definitely will hold a strobe head with a softbox in place firmly. It will easily hold in place a backdrop bar with heavy weight muslin on it. That's as much weight as I have put on one. Hope this helps.

Q: 8. If I attached a head (any compatible head), would this base allow for smooth panning?

A: There is no designed way to attach a head directly to this monopod base.

Q: 9. Is this compatible with the monopod leg of Manfrotto Element Big Travel Tripod?

A: Unfortunately, the Manfrotto XPRO Fluid Base is not compatible with the monopod leg of the Manfrotto Element Big Travel Tripod.

Q: 10. Will this work with Manfrotto MPMXPROC4US?

A: Yes, the XPRO will work with the MPMXPROC4US. In fact we sell kits of them together. Manfrotto XPRO MPMXPROC4US Carbon Fiber Monopod with XPRO Fluid Base Kit B&H # MPMXPROC4UK4 (B&H Kit)

Can't see why anyone would spend more for a monopod. It's very well built yet light to carry. Solid latches, highly recommend it.

love it does it job good like way feels and holds. only issue i have so far is when to windy out side huge breezy we get make hard to keep steady in huge sand dunes or sand on beach or uneven ground on some walking trails we have in area. other then that i give 5 stars because when do not get 15 to 30 mph at time. also looking to get monopod tilt head or swivel head too. so might help out to steady from huge wind i get from ocean or from living on east coast of CFL fl. within 15 miles from beach or inlet area of CFL FL

I love this monopod! It replaces my Manfrotto 681B, which I've work with for close to 30 years. It is much lighter and narrower, then my 681, but somehow more stable. I have just ordered the 234RC head for it. I am the staff photographer for many major theatre's in the LA area, which means navigating through rows of seats during a shoot. My handheld days are long gone, so this is vital for me. I was constantly clunking into seats which has not happened once with the 290. It really is an extension of my body. I'm anxious to use the head which I've never used on a monopod. A great tool at a great price!
