Offering increased control over exposures, this Pro Ultra Slim ND Filter from Fotodiox features a 145mm front filter thread, and is used to darken the entire image, thereby allowing you to increase exposure times or to work with a wider aperture setting than without the filter while maintaing the correct exposure. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. The ND 3.0 density of this filter requires a 10-stop increase in exposure to achieve a normal exposure.

The filter is made from optical glass, which has been multi-coated to maintain image quality when working in strong lighting conditions. The glass is set in a 3mm-thick anodized aluminum ring that is lightweight, durable, and slim to help prevent vignetting when used with wide-angle lenses.

I came from Nikon where one of my go to lenses was the 14-24 and have been missing it enormously when I switched to the Sony system. Now all is well and even much better because of the 12-24. This lens is amazing . I recommend to all.

Excellent sharpness even wide open, especially between 12mm and 14mm. I must say if this lens took filters, it would be the Ultimate landscape lens. Still, I give it 5 stars. Brilliant.

I shoot architectural photography. I need wide angle. My previous cameras were Canon and Nikon but switched to Sony about 2 years ago. Now that I'm almost 80, I needed something light weight and the A7RII fit the bill. My first lens was the 16-35 F4. It was an acceptable zoom but the sharpness at times was just a little off and bothered me. I sold the lens and went with the wonderful Zeiss Batis 18mm F2.8. FABULOUS...but I needed more flexibility than 18mm. When shooting the exterior of a condo it was difficult to capture the entire building. I also needed wider when trying to capture small rooms. I ordered the 12-24 hoping this would be the answer to my problem. Yep. Sure was. Sharp, lightweight and wide when I need WIDE! However, the first few times I used it, It was so easy to get carried away with 12mm. Lots of distortion and difficult to correct with cropping. Thankfully, the A7RII allows it without losing a lot of resolution. I now find myself being more careful and shooting mostly between 14 and 16mm. But am very grateful to have 12mm when trying to capture those 30 story condos on Wilshire Corridor. I also thought I would miss the F/2.8 for shooting exterior twilights in windy conditions but the F/4 works just fine with a little ISO boost. I would highly recommend this lens to anyone who needs a wide zoom flexibility.
