IK Multimedia Syntronik Bully is a virtual synthesizer plug-in with a library that consists of thunderous bass sounds from the Moog Taurus series, a monophonic analog bass synthesizer you play with your feet. Heard on records by Rush, Yes, Genesis, U2, The Police, and more, it features sawtooth waveforms with distinctive oscillator detuning and a slow-sweeping low-pass filter with little or no resonance, which together produce the renowned Taurus sound with its massive low end.

The library comes with 1000 samples and 100 instruments, and is powered by the included Syntronik Free player. To recreate the unmistakable sound of analog oscillators, the software employs the company's DRIFT technology, which emulates the way real analog circuits behave over time. Syntronik Free player comes with true 4-part capability to layer rich sounds with multis and splits, four dynamic arpeggiators for complex rhythmic textures, and 38 high-quality effects derived from AmpliTube and T-RackS.

Syntronik Bully is compatible with Mac and Windows platforms, and works in VST2, VST3, AU, and AAX formats running at 64-bit.

Q: 2. Will this work on a MacBook? I’m going to use it for a podcast.

A: The iRig Pre was designed for use with mobile devices like iPhones and iPads rather than a MacBook. You will have better results using a USB interface with a MacBook. The Behringer U-PHORIA UM2 Desktop 2x2 USB 1.1 Audio Interface (B&H# BEUM2) is another lower-priced option. If you want an interface that will work with your MacBook as well as with mobile devices, the IK Multimedia iRig Pre HD Audio Interface with Mic Pre (B&H# IKIRIGPREHD) or Zoom U-22 Ultracompact 2x2 USB Handy Audio Interface (B&H# ZOZU22) are good options.
