The Rolls HDC39 is an HDMI to audio converter, useful in pairing your home entertainment system with hi-fi audio gear to complement the video image. It sports an HDMI input, and can convert a signal to stereo RCA outputs for line-level stereo, or S/PDIF for 5.1 applications. It will also pass HDMI signal through to a dedicated HDMI output simultaneously.

To use the HDC39 as a converter from HDMI to RCA, set the selector switch to the PASS or CH2 position. In these positions, the unit will pass HDMI signal to the RCA outputs while still passing video to the HDMI output connection. For converting HDMI to S/PDIF, put the selector switch in the 5.1 position. A power supply is included.

A: The Z CAM HDMI to SDI Converter is an HDMI to SDI converter, and is intended to take the HDMI output from Z Cams and convert it to an SDI 3-G format. If you want to record 12-Bit ProRes RAW from your Z Cam we recommend using your camera's HDMI output to send a feed to the Atomos Ninja V.

It is very simple and easy to use. The function is limited, converting the audio signal from Unbalanced to balanced and in the opposite way but It works totally fine my use. The price is very affordable, too. 5

Great gadget for ENG videographers using HDV camcorders. We use it to connect to sat trucks and multi boxes in news-pool situations. The outputs are almost always +4 dbu professional line level, and the HDV camcorders are all consumer, -10dBv line inputs. This inexpensive but capable gadget does the conversion and provides attenuation or amplification as needed. It is bi-directional, so we can feed takes from a camcorder direct to the sat truck inputs, or receive from them. Neat, compact, inexpensive. Great gadget. I bought this with the expectation that it likely would not do anything, and I'd return it. When I inserted it between my Sonos Port and a Denefrips Ares 2 DAC, however, I noticed an stark increase in dynamic range, to the extent that I had to turn my headphone amp down a bit. Through speakers, I noticed better imaging and placement, as well as better base. I checked in with the DAC manufacturer to see if this could just be the result of the iFi potentially feeding a hotter signal than the Port. They said that was unlikely, and reducing jitter would indeed be helpful to improve the DAC's sound. Of course, Denefrips solution for that costs many times the iFi. I'm keeping it, which surprised me. I expected only marginal improvements. The Sonos Connect was known to produce a lot of jitter. I had assumed the Port would improve on that, but perhaps not if I'm hearing such a jump from the iPurifier 2. I'm sure this is all system dependent, but my experience is that it is worth trying, if you buy from a vendor with good return policies. 5
