Tiffen 67mm Soft/fx 2 Filter

Tiffen 67mm Soft/fx 2 Filter
  • Product Code: ga5192
  • Availability: In Stock

$186.24 $227.21

The Tiffen 67mm Soft/FX 2 Filter can be applied to purposely reduce the appearance of blemishes and wrinkles in portraits or to apply a general soft-focus effect while maintaining overall sharpness. An array of small lenses distributed within the surface of this filter smooths fine lines and textures, which can be useful for creating a more flattering result of a subject.

This filter has a grade of 2. Grades of 1/2, 1, 3, 4, and 5 are also available where this filter type's effect becomes approximately twice as strong with each grade number increase. When higher grade numbers are applied, a halation effect around highlights can be created to further enhance a subject's appearance or produce a desired effect.

This filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity. It is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does Freewell offer a version of the UV filter that isn't threaded on the back and instead can magnetically attach to the glassless ring like the ND filters?

A: Yes, there is the Freewell Magnetic Quick-Swap 82mm UV Filter, BH #FRFW82MUV (https://bhpho.to/3zcfbNp). This is a a UV Filter that is not threaded and attaches magnetically.

Q: 2. Is this Multicoated? Is it better than the b+w filter?

A: Yes T* lenses are multicoated. I use one of these on a Zeiss zf2 lens for Nikon and my other ZF2 Zeiss lenses (5) all have B+W F-Pro filters on them. I see no difference between these two brands of filter on lenses used on D810. There is a lot of hype around filter brands. Take the filters off when you want the lens to perform as designed.

Q: 3. What is the glass thickness?

A: Unfortunately, this specification is not provided by Hoya. Please contact the manufacturer directly.

Q: 4. Can this also be used on an underwater housing?

A: Of course. I am using it on the sony housing.

Q: 5. hI, will this work on nikon p900? if so, will I have to modify the camera..thanks

A: This lens is designed for SLR and DSLR cameras.

Q: 6. Is the filter ring made of brass or aluminum?

A: The ZEISS UV and POL filter housings are made from aluminum.

Q: 7. Will this work to it's top performance on a Canon 5D3?

A: Yes Leica 67mm ND 16x Filter is compatible with the Canon 5d Mark 3 if you have a lens on the camera that accepts 67mm filters.

Q: 8. Hi I just purchased this and there is no magnetic adapter ring included and the filter itself is not magnetic and will not magnetically attach to my freewell magnetic base. I am confused. Can you explain?

A: The Freewell 82mm UV Filter BH #FRFW82UV UV doesn't come with an additional magnetic ring. The UV filter functions as a magnetic lens adapter ring that allows non-UV Freewell magnetic quick-swap filters to be used on a lens with 82mm front filter threads. Its rear-threaded filter ring allows for the convenient installation or removal of non-UV Freewell magnetic quick-swap filters.

Q: 9. How thin is this Hoya HD3 49mm UV filter?

A: This filter has a frame thickness of 5mm.

Q: 10. I recently purchased a Nikon D7100. What kind of results, if any, can I expect if I put one of these filters on it?

A: You may not get the expected results! Most cameras would not give you the effect unless you convert the camera, which will be permanent and expensive too! There are some old models which do not have built in ir cancellation mechanisms. Those are the ones which can generate ir effects.

I have only bought Tiffen filters for my video cameras. They works great. I have 2 Meike lenses which take a 77mm filter. I bought a 77mm Tiffen VND filter and a Sensei LHR2-T77 3-in-1 hood that has 77mm threads on it for a filter but the Tiffen threads were to short and would not thread into the hood. So, I sent it back to B&H and bought the 72mm filter with a step-down adaptor. This setup works great with my Ronin-M. B&H is always great about returns. When it comes to video and audio, I only buy from B&H. By the way, the Sensei 3-in-1hood is a really good hood option for cinema lenses. Works with the Meike 16mm and the 35mm lenses.

It’s pricey, but, worth every penny. Great quality glass and a solid metal ring. Very smooth radiation as well. A must have for any photographer.

Very good variable ND filter for the price.

Tip: with this filter on, your 67mm lens's cover will no longer fit, which is a major pain. But a 77mm lens cover will fit.

I wish Tiffen packaged a replacement lens cover with this filter.

A good option to not carry a set of three or four ND filters. I heard before I got it it had color issues when set out of the min and max marks on the filter but in general didn't have any color problems that I have noticed so far. With my 16-24mm zoom lens It does start to have problems.

I used these at my day job and they are an incredible tool! Since I use them quite often I decided to get one for myself and it's still amazing. Don't hesitate, don't overthink it, just get this!

A whole lot less expensive than a bunch of ND filters.
