Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does it work with OC200 Omada controller?

A: The TP-Link TL-SG2008P JetStream 8-Port PoE+ Compliant Gigabit Managed Switch (BH #TPTLSG2008P) will work with the OC200 Omada controller.

Q: 2. Can this switch be adopted/managed in Omada?

A: The TP-Link TL-SG2210P 8-Port Gigabit PoE Smart Switch with 2 SFP Slots is compatible with Omada control. See: https://www.tp-link.com/us/omada_compatibility_list/

Q: 3. Specifications say 23.8Mbps, this seems very slow for a Gigabit switch! Is this a misprint?

A: I always have issues converting bauds to bytes... so in real world, this switch let me transfer files at 103-105 Megabytes per second, almost twice of my previos switches (those small 3Com 8 100/1000mbps ports). I will buy it again if I have to.

Q: 4. Can I run normal CAT5/6 cable from one of the SFP ports to another router/switch's RJ45 port?

A: An Ethernet cable cannot be inserted directly into an SFP fiber port. You would require an adapter such as BH #TPTLSM5310T to facilitate that connection.

Q: 5. TP-Link rep, what switch is your most inexpensive managed switch?

A: That would be the TL-SF1005D. If you are looking for a sub $20 Gigabit switch look at the LS1005G

Q: 6. The power budget says 384W with each port able to provide 30W. Does this mean the power budget only supports 12.8 devices or does it support all 48 ports at 8W each? My devices pull a max of 6.5W each.

A: The TP-Link TL-SG3428XMP JetStream 24-Port PoE+ Compliant Gigabit Managed Switch with SFP+ budget of 384w is total draw. Any one port can handle up to 30w. You can use all the ports at a lower amount as long as you do not exceed the total of 384w.

Q: 7. What is in the box ??

A: TP-Link TL-SG1016DE 16-Port Gigabit Easy Smart Switch box has Power Cord, Resource CD, Rubber Feet, Rackmount Kit, Limited 5-Year Warranty.

Q: 8. is this rackmountable?

A: The TP-Link TL-SG1016 16-Port Unmanaged Gigabit Switch is rack mountable and the mounts are included.

Q: 9. Does it support RADIUS?

A: Yes, the TP-Link TL-SG2008P JetStream 8-Port PoE+ Compliant Gigabit Managed Switch, B&H # TPTLSG2008P, supports RADIUS.

Q: 10. Hi, the SFP+ ports are described as uplink. Are they limited to communication with the upstream switch or can they be used like "regular" ports i.e. to connect a 10GB NAS such as BH #QNTSH977XU32 ?

A: You could potentially use the SFP+ ports for other uses but the uplink port would be for an upstream switch or to the router.

Supports VLAN, Link aggregation, POE, intergration with Omada Controllers. If you need to create a sophisticated home network within a reasonable price range, this is the product to choose besides the always out of stock Unifi Switch Lite products.

B&H shipped the switch immediately after I ordered it and it was delivered a couple days later as promised. Not the first time nor the last that I will buy from B&H. Also, better prices than those on Amazon.

I bought this to replace an Easy Smart switch that was damaged by lightning. What an improvement! In addition to being able to manage it with the Omada software, it has a complete and very easy to web interface as well. There's many features I will never use but I am happy that it supports SNMP, which is something I had wished that the Easy Smart switch had. One thing to note is that the JetStream switch's implementation of 802.11Q only allows access to the web interface from the management VLAN. The documentation doesn't mention this, even though it makes perfect sense, it is different from the Easy Smart switches and it took me a couple of resets before i learned how to work with this aspect of this switch. All in all I couldn't be happier with it!

I purchased this as part of an upgrade to the network equipment at my church. It works with TP-Link's Omada system for centralized management, and replaced two PoE injectors and a switch. I would definately purchase again, it was basically plug and play.

As Jeong said, it fills in fine for the out of stock UniFi Switch Lite. Managing is not as pretty as UniFi products but for this price it's fine. We're powering a G3-Bullet, a G3-Pro and a Building-to-Building Bridge. This is a change from a NetGear unmanaged since we needed to setup VLANs. It's drawing 13.5 watts and has been up for two weeks with no problems.

It took a few minutes to set up and integrate with my existing Omada setup. It was easily deployed running my VLANS and powering up one of the EAP650's with no issue. For the cost, I would recommend this switch if you don't require a lot of hardwired devices.

Love the tp-link omada management system. Makes this switch and other omada products easy to integrate into my network. Use the POE to power several tp-link omada wireless access points and 3 POE network security cameras
