CineStill 800Tungsten C-41 Color Negative Film is reformatted movie stock that has been prepared and packaged for use in still cameras. Utilizing a unique premoval stage, the traditional anti-halation rem-jet layer has been removed from this film, enabling its development in C-41 chemistry as well as the motion picture standard ECN-2 process.

Benefitting from the distinct qualities of a high-speed motion picture stock, this color negative film is balanced for tungsten, incandescent, and fluorescent light and exhibits a nominal sensitivity of ISO 800/30°. If exposing under daylight conditions, an 85B filter is recommended along with exposing the film at ISO 500 for normal results. The high film speed is ideal for working in difficult, lowlight conditions and is also well suited to push processing by up to 3 stops.

This item is one roll of 120 format film.

High-speed, ISO 800/30°, tungsten-balanced movie stock has been packaged and prepared for use in still cameras.

Unique premoval stage eliminates the rem-jet anti-halation layer to make it suitable for C-41 processing. Processing can also be done with ECN-2 chemistry without worrying about the rem-jet layer.

A distinct halation effect produces glowing highlights from strong light sources.

Specifically designed for use in low and difficult lighting conditions.

Emulsion has been optimized for a hybrid workflow and is ideal for scanning.

Film responds well to push processing up to ISO 3200.

Recommended ISO rating and exposure index rating for push processing:

  • ISO 800: No push; EI 200-1600
  • ISO 1250: 1-stop push; EI 800-2000
  • ISO 1600: 2-stop push; EI 1250-3200
  • ISO 3200: 3-stop push; EI 1600-3200 (with increased contrast)

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Where are people getting this film developed?

A: The Cinestill 800Tungsten Xpro C-41 35mm Color Negative Film can be processed in a C-41 process, which is standard for color film development, and most film labs will be able to develop this film for you.

Q: 2. Is this film DX coded?

A: Yes, the CineStill Film 800Tungsten Xpro C-41 Color Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures) listed above is DX-coded film and will automatically set the camera's ISO setting in cameras which read DX-coded film canisters.

Q: 3. I used this film with Mamiya 645 and Sekonic L-308X-U on a daylight, i sat my light meter to 400 ISO, am following the light meter readings and i still getting under exposed images, what u think is my problem. btw sometimes i push my film but i still not satisfied with the results. (**note** camera is in good condition)

A: I've shot this film twice, once at 800 with no push, and second time at 1600 and pushed 2 stops. The second time around I had better results with contrast and the look I was going for. It's a bit trial and error, but I feel 400 is too low. So try shooting at 500 in daylight if you use with a 85 filter as per CineStill, but honesty I think this is better suited at 800 or 1600 ISO.

Q: 4. Does it really have 0 remjet? It wont destroy the machine on the local photoshop then?

A: No remjet; Its already removed. Thats the selling point. :)

Q: 5. Is this a daylight or tungsten balanced film?

A: The CineStill Film 400Dynamic Color Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures) is daylight balanced.

Q: 6. hello, I have a canon rebel t2 & 7ne with a automatic film roll. has anyone tested this film with non manual camera's?

A: I am using this film in a Canon EOS Elan 7 and the camera does read the ISO from the cassette. So, you can use this film with your camera. Just remember that it's not a daylight film.

Q: 7. Is this DX coded?

A: Yes, the CineStill Film 400Dynamic Color Negative Film (35mm Roll Film, 36 Exposures) is DX coded.

Q: 8. Does it really have 0 remjet? It wont destroy the machine on the local photoshop then?

A: From their (CineStills) website:CineStill film is safe for standard photo lab machines and produces ideal negatives for scanning or printing. CineStill color film can also be easily processed by hand, using CineStills Color Simplified Cs41 processing kits, without worrying about rem-jet. I still havent had my roll of this film processed, but it seems like theyve made it safe for sending to a photo lab. Just to be safe send it in to the darkroom dot com and theyll know what to do with it for sure. Great lab for film processing.

Q: 9. Does the 120 format of this film have numbers for counting frames on it's back paper?

A: Yes, the CineStill Film 800Tungsten C-41 Color Negative Film (120 Roll Film) has the reference numbers for counting frames.

Q: 10. Might be a dumb question, but this would fit into a holga camera?

A: It should fit. Holga cameras mainly use 120 film.

motion picture film without the remjet yields fun colors. expose at 1600 iso and develop in 3200 iso (flexicolor) and its the most serviceable color stock for indoor concert photography.

I used one roll on the Fuji GA645 Pro, and I was able to get some evening photos that I would not have tried with slower film and without a tripod. Another roll went into the Linholf Panorama with 150mm Schneider, the results are great detail and of course a shorter exposure time. The contrast and grain in the negatives are attractive and subtle. I will use this film in 35mm format with the Leica M6 after the film comes back in stock at camera stores.
