A: Accurate as listed: depth from grille to back of speaker. Dimensions 5.9 x 8.5 x 5.5" / 14.9 x 21.6 x 14 cm

A: Yes, they need an amplifier. I have mine connected to the Sony amp which drives our home entertainment system. I didn't purchase anything extra or special for the speakers.

The brackets hide nicely within the cut outs of the speakers and the thumb knobs screw flush to the outer cabinet housing.
