For example if you had a small power outage your equipment would stay on till the battery depletes. Usually computers are connected to it but you could connect a phone to it. You would just want to stay under 900 watts so the UPS doesn't become overloaded.

A: The port on the back marked battery is actually a disconnect, not a connector. It is recommended that you disconnect the battery during transportation, and this port provide a convenient way to do so.
