Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does the 600W/1000 VA version have a cooling fan?

A: The unit SMC1000-2UC has a fan.

Q: 2. Is there an ethernet port in the base unit ? And does this ethernet port support basic remote communication?

A: Yes, the APC Smart-UPS Battery Backup & Surge Protector with SmartConnect, B&H # APSMT3000, comes with a SmartConnect Ethernet port. SmartConnect offers cloud-based remote power monitoring, UPS firmware upgrades, remote diagnostics and proactive email notifications with recommended actions.

Q: 3. Does this condition the power? Would it replace the need for a Furman power conditioner?

A: This unit has a conditioner in it, but it would depend on the overall setup and how you were using the Furman.

Q: 4. Are these TAA compliant?

A: Yes, APC Smart-UPS Battery Backup is TAA Compliant.

Q: 5. does this product come with batteries?

A: Yep

Q: 6. are batteries replaceable?

A: Yes, the battery is replaceable.

Q: 7. Follow Up question on APC Smart Card "AP9641" & SMT3000C (and also SMT2200C): Do these units *already* have less capable cards that would need to be removed to make room to make room for AP9641 ? If so: What is the best model in this form factor and VA Capacity to buy, with the goal of deploying UPS with AP9641 card?

A: Thank you for your interest in our products. You would not need to remove any card to install the AP9641. The only thing you would need to remove is the blanking panel that covers the slot where the card is installed.

Q: 8. I want to hook up to survillence system to keep powered up when losing utility power. I assume this will do the trick?

A: Absolutely will be fine. Most surveillance systems draw very little power, and the near perfect sine-wave output is great for video equipment that would otherwise be susceptible to electronic noise (ie. spurious lines in the video, etc). However, this unit can only keep your surveillance system running for a limited amount of time, and you can determine the amount of time by visiting the APC website and using their UPS sizing tool to help determine about how much time your system will stay powered. And a sidenote... if you are using a PC-based system to record the surveillance data, then the amount of time will be substantially reduced due to the extra power needs of PC itself, so make sure that you include the wattage of the power supply in the PC when determining your power needs. If this 1440VA (about 1050watts) will only keep your PC-based surveillance system powered for about 10-mins, then you might want to consider a larger UPS unit, or one that can accept additional battery packs to extend the power timespan.

Q: 9. Hello, I am considering purchasing this item. I understand that it can be connected to the Internet for enhanced functionality but since I do not have a good Internet connection where I reside can I use this UPS without connecting it to the Internet? Thank You Very Much. John

A: Yes you can as connecting the APC Smart-UPS X Battery Backup & Surge Protector with SmartConnect (BH #APSMX15RM2UC) to the Internet/network is not a requirement - it is optional.

Q: 10. Smart Card Compatibility: Is model fully compabile with: APC UPS Network Management Card 3 with 2 USB Ports and Temperature Monitoring, Newest Model 2020 (AP9641) ??

A: Thank you for your interest in our products. Yes the AP9641 will work in the SMT3000C.
