The MMD 935 dynamic capsule features a cardioid polar pattern that minimizes background noise and feedback.

The rugged, all-metal handheld transmitter features a backlit LCD that displays essential information and provides fast menu access. The adjustable input sensitivity on the transmitter accommodates mic levels, ranging from booming voices to quiet speech, while controls can be locked out to prevent accidental changes during a performance. The transmitter syncs to the receiver via infrared with a quick press on the Sync button.

The SK 500 G4 is powered via two AA batteries or a rechargeable BA 2015 Accupack battery (available separately). An LA 2 charging adapter (available separately) allows for recharging the Accupack without removing it from the transmitter—requires the L 2015 quick-charging unit (available separately).

The transmitter's interchangeable capsule design allows you to use a variety of optional dynamic and condenser mic capsules with pickup patterns ranging from wide omnidirectional to narrow supercardioid—capsules include the MMD 835, MMD 845, MME 865, MMD 935, MMD 945, and MMD 42.

The robust, metal EM 300-500 G4 receiver offers a high-contrast, black-&-white OLED display. The display uses a streamlined menu system with a jog wheel and dedicated Escape button for quick menu navigation. The display also shows battery status of the associated transmitter.

The system features 20 fixed frequency banks with up to 32 compatible frequency presets and 6 user banks with up to 32 user-programmable frequencies.

To prevent interference, the EM 300-500 receiver's true-diversity reception compares incoming signals on two independent receiver circuits to ensure optimal RF quality. To ensure crystal clear audio, Sennheiser's proprietary HDX compander technology maximizes the microphone's signal-to-noise ratio, while avoiding RF noise.

The built-in equalizer enables you to change the frequency response of the output signal; you can reduce the bass range and boost the treble range. The receiver also offers an adjustable output level range of 48 dB to match the audio input of your mixing board or PA system.

A headphone output with volume control is conveniently located on the front panel, allowing you to monitor your audio signal.

The back panel houses a balanced XLR output as well as an unbalanced 1/4" output. A kit is included for rackmount installation. The unit comes with a universal power supply and EU, US, UK, Korea, Australia, and China adapters.

The receiver features an Ethernet (RJ45) port for network-based remote monitoring and control using the Sennheiser Wireless System Manager (WSM) software (free download available separately). Using your Mac/Windows computer, the software allows you to quickly coordinate frequencies in multi-channel setups, display audio levels at the transmitter, battery status, and more.

The detachable antennas with BNC sockets allow you to create a larger system using up to four EM 300-500 G4 receivers connected to a single pair of remote antennas. This setup requires the ASA 214 active antenna splitter (available separately).

Adding a pair of A 1031-U omnidirectional antennas or a pair of A 2003 UHF directional antennas increases the range of your system and offers increased protection against interference.

Sennheiser offers a bodypack transmitter with a variety of lavalier and headset microphone options to adapt your EW system as your needs evolve.

  • The discrete ME 2-II and MKE 2 lavalier mics provide exceptional clarity in spoken-word applications.
  • The lightweight ME 3-II is a comfortable, durable headset microphone for active presentations.
  • The Ci 1 instrument cable lets you connect the bodypack transmitter to a guitar or bass.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this system have phantom power protection? For example, if you accidentally turn on phantom power on the mixer to use a condenser mic, will it damage the system?

A: The receiver in the Sennheiser EW 100 G4-945-S Wireless Handheld Microphone System with MMD 945 Capsule does not make any specific indication regarding phantom power precautions. Clearly you do not want to have phantom power engaged on the input it is connected to, but it will likely not damage the receiver either.

Q: 2. Does Sennheiser offer a wireless solution that offers dual recording, so that two mics can be used simultaneously?

A: The only dual channel system Sennheiser makes that is similar to the EW 500 FILM G4 Camera Mount Wireless Combo System would be the Sennheiser EK 6042 Dual-Channel Slot-Mount Wireless Receiver (B&H # SEEK6042)

Q: 3. Does the Sennhesier EK 500 G4 Receiver have line out feed to the camera?

A: Maximum AF Output Voltage:1/8 (3.5 mm) Jack Socket: +17 dB (mono, unbalanced) (at peak deviation, 1 kHz AF)Output Level Range42 dB, adjustable in steps of 6 dB

Q: 4. Can the EW 500 receiver XLR be connected to a mixer rather than camera?

A: Yes, the Sennheiser EK 500 G4 Pro Wireless Camera-Mount Receiver from the Sennheiser EW 500 FILM G4 Camera-Mount Wireless Combo Microphone System can be connected to the XLR input on a mixer, rather than being connected to a camera. You can use the Sennheiser CL-500 Balanced Cable for use with Sennheiser EK500 Receiver 1/8"-Male Mini Jack to XLR-Male Connector (B&H # SECL500), which comes included in the package with the EK 500 Receiver.

Q: 5. What frequency should I use?

A: Without knowing exactly where you will be using this system, it is impossible to make a firm recommendation. That being said, this system has a very wide freq band and features auto scan for the best possible clear freq to use. It should work pretty much every time. Just make sure you scan before you are ready to shoot, then sync it with your transmitter and you should be good to go.

Q: 6. Is the AA battery 1.2v or 1.5v?

A: The Sennheiser SKM 500 G4 Wireless Handheld Transmitter can run on either a pair of 1.5v AA batteries or the optional rechargeable battery pack.

Q: 7. Can I use two microphones with this?

A: Only one handheld mic can be used , if you need a second mic you will need to purchase a second unit

Q: 8. Does this, or any equivalent wireless kits, have internal recording?

A: No internal recording with these wireless systems.

Q: 9. Does EW 100 G4-835 come with a carrying case?
