The Tiffen 82mm 81B Light Balancing Filter helps to decrease the color temperature by 300K in order to warm the image slightly in order to match the color quality of illumination. When using an 81B filter, you will be able to attain 3200K balance when the prevailing light source is 3500K. The warming effect of this filter requires a 0.3-stop increase in exposure for normal results.

This filter is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between 2 pieces of optical glass, grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch, and then mounting to precision metal rings.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I noticed the reviews seemed to be for attaching the Zeiss filter to Zeiss lenses. Just wanted to double check that the 72mm Zeiss UV filter threading would mount to my Fujifilm XF lens?

A: Yes, it will fit on your Fuji lens.

Q: 2. What is the filter factor, i.e. how many stops of light are reduced?

A: The filter factor of the Sony 82mm T* Circular Polarizer Filter is 1.6x, i.e., 3 stops of light are reduced.

Q: 3. If I use this filter to block light from distant city, will it also affect the Halogen light I use to light paint?

A: The Kase Neutral Night Light Pollution Filter (82mm) is designed to reduce light pollution when photographing the sky during long-exposure night photography. It was not originally intended for light painting usage needs. Halogen lights will output light that may be suppressed by the filter, but it may depend on the intensity of the light as to the effect the filter may have on the halogen light (the filter is designed to reduce background light glow). Your results may vary, and would require testing to see if it would work for your planned usage needs.

Q: 4. WIll this fit on the NEW 70-200 mm 2.8 II lens with the lens hood attached?

A: Yes Sony 77mm T* Circular Polarizer Filter will fit on that lens with lens hood attached.

Q: 5. Does this have hard stops or does it continue to turn past the min or max?

A: The Tiffen MCS Variable Neutral Density Filter (77mm, 2 to 8-Stop) does not have hard stops.

Q: 6. Does this filter have front threads so one can attach a lens cap? I cannot tell from the photo and the SPECS do not say.

A: You can attach a lens cap to the front of the Sony 67mm T* Circular Polarizer Filter.

Q: 7. will they vignette if I stack 2 together especially on a 16-35 lens?

A: If you stack two of the Tiffen 82mm Digital HT Neutral Density Filters on a 16-35mm lens you could get vignetting if the lens is on a full frame camera and you are at 16mm.

Q: 8. If I use a 77mm step up ring will it work with my magnetic ring on the lens?

A: The Kase Neutral Night Light Pollution Filter (82mm) is not a magnetic filter. The Kase Neutral Night Light Pollution Filter (82mm) is manufactured from aluminum. As such, unless your filter has front filter threads that may be used with the Kase Neutral Night Light Pollution Filter (82mm) or the 77mm step-up ring you wish to purchase, your results may vary.

Q: 9. Hi will this work ok with the zoom lens on the sony fdr-ax700 handycam..?

Q: 10. Does this filter come with the same type of defender case as the Peter McKinnon Vari-ND filters?? Will the filter allowing attaching the hood of the Canon RF 85mm F1.2L lens?

Great glass and just what I need. Recommend purchasing a step-up ring too to work with other lenses!

I've been wanting to get some neutral density filters for a while and I came across this set. I don't get a ton of free time to get out so when I'm limited to weekends only, sometimes the lighting isn't optimal. I love to shoot waterfalls and these filters allow me to darken the image enough for much slower shutter speeds for smooth, silky looking water. They are stackable so bright sunlight isn't as likely to ruin a potentially great photo now that I have them.

Haven't had a chance to use them yet. They are what I ordered and seem to be in perfect shape and sturdy.

This is a nice set of ND filters. I use these for video so that I can maintain a fairly open aperture even during bright daytime. These filters feel very solid and fit well on my lens. Having the variety of filter strengths is also a plus, as I did not want to deal with possible vignetting on a variable filter. These can also stack to provide even more options for the ND strength. These come in a soft case, which is fine in my bag, but if you are concerned about protection you may want to purchase a hard case separately.
