The Sennheiser EK 100 G4 is a camera-mount wireless receiver compatible with EW Series wireless microphone systems for videographers, YouTubers, and mobile journalists.

Easy to use and fast to set up, the EK 100 G4 is built for dependable performance in the field. Using the included shoemount adapter, this compact receiver mounts on your camera without adding much weight. The two included cables allow you to connect it to either the 3.5mm or the XLR audio input of any DSLR/mirrorless, camcorder, or recording device.

The EK 100 G4 features user-friendly menu operation with flexible control options. A daylight-readable LED display shows reception quality, battery status, and audio level. The frequency scan function automatically searches for the cleanest frequency at your location. To get you going quickly, the receiver synchronize with the transmitter via infrared interface with the simple push of a button.

The EK 100 G4 is backward-compatible with previous evolution systems, giving you the ability to mix and match G4/G3/G2/G1 receivers or bodypack, handheld, and plug-on transmitters. It is also compatible with EW 500 systems.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Will this work with the older EK 100 G3 wireless system?

A: Yes, Sennheiser G4 series components are backwards compatible for use with G3 series components. Just be sure that the frequency bands are the same on the receiver and transmitter.

Q: 2. Is this receiver compatible with the SKM 835-XSW-A Handheld Mic? Or any other wireless Sennheiser stick mic?

A: No, ew100 series wireless components such as the Sennheiser EK 100 G4 Camera-Mount Wireless Receiver are not cross-compatible with XSW series components such as the Sennheiser SKM 835-XSW-A Handheld Transmitter with e835 Capsule. A compatible handheld transmitter for use with this EK 100 G4 receiver is the Sennheiser SKM 100 G4 Handheld Wireless Microphone Transmitter (BH #SESKM100G4A). Be sure to add on your desired microphone capsule, as they are not included with the transmitter's purchase: https://bhpho.to/39J5cWE

Q: 3. Are these receivers backwards compatible with the EW 300 IEM G3 transmitters?

A: Yes, the Sennheiser EK IEM G4 Stereo Bodypack Receiver with IE 4 Earphones is backwards compatible with IEM G3 components operating on the same frequency range.

Q: 4. What is the difference between A1, A, and G? What should I use if I'm filming mainly in Los Angeles?

A: Sennheiser breaks up the legal frequency range for wireless microphones of 470-608 MHz into three blocks. I would recommend the A1 block for Los Angeles, which is 540-516 MHZ. But all of the three groups have 1680 frequencies, and the ability to auto scan to find a clean channel.

Q: 5. Can I get a shotgun mic in this kit instead of the handheld?

A: The plug-on transmitter is designed to be used with dynamic microphones only, and will not work with a shotgun mic, which are condenser mics. The SKP500 will work with shotgun mics, but is not available in this kit configuration: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1385730-REG/sennheiser_skp_500_g4_gw1_skp_500_g4_pro.html

Q: 6. What is the best frequency for primary use in Kansas City area? How long will this new mic system likely be legal to use per FCC anticipated rulings? I realize this is a bit of fortune telling, but just want to get a feel for it.

A: Any of the frequency bands will work well in Kansas City. The FCC has not announced any upcoming changes.

Q: 8. +48?

A: That comes with an SKP100 plug-on transmitter which would only be compatible with dynamic microphones. For compatibility with condenser microphones that require phantom power, you need the SKP500 plug-on transmitter instead. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1385722-REG/sennheiser_ew_500_film_g4_gw1_ew_500_film_g4.html

Q: 9. Can a powered shotgun mic work with Plug-On Transmitter instead of the handheld?

A: Yes, if you are using a self-powered shotgun mic. The transmitter does not supply phantom power.

Q: 10. What is different between EK 100 G4 and EM 100 G4

A: The EK 100 is portable, runs on batteries, the K is for use on a camera (K is for Kamera). The EM100 is designed for a fixed location; requires electricity I think the M stands for mountable.
