Q: 1. I have an Olympus digital camera that I am hoping will be abke to be compatible with the DX 70mm-It is an FE 340? Older but, magnificent quality lens , zoom and focus capability-can I obtain an adapter to make the Olympus work with this Celestron DX 70??? I do not have a smart phone--just a Samsung Rugby that has served me well and proven 10Yrs Durable. Thank You, I do appreciate the opportunity to see if my Olypus just may work with the proper adapter-Help, Please. Corey I'm a

A: The Olympus FE 340 is a point and shoot camera. The adapter you need will position the camera over the eyepiece of the telescope. Here is an example: Celestron Universal Digiscoping Adapter BH #CEDCAS • MFR #93626 https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/370595-REG/Celestron_93626_Universal_Digiscoping_Adapter.html

Q: 2. Does this work with a digital camera?

A: Yes it does. You would have to get 2 things. The adapter below B&H # CETA1.25 for the telescope eyepiece. And a T mount for your camera different cameras have different T mounts. So you would have to find one that is made for your camera.

Q: 3. Does the telescope connect to the tripod with a standard 1/4 connection?

A: This model comes with a standard 1/4 20 threading.

Q: 4. is this a good telescope for a curious 10 year old?

A: Yes this is a great scope for a beginner. They will not have any issues maneuvering the scope either.

Q: 5. Is there a barlow lens included with this?

A: Unfortunatelly notBestia regards

Q: 6. What is lens would you recommend to increase the magnification?

A: The highest magnification eyepiece that I would recommend going with is the Celestron Omni 6mm Eyepiece, which gives a 66X Magnification. That is the highest magnification I would go with this scope. Or else the image will get very shaky and dark.

Q: 7. Can I use it with a mount to connect my Sony a7Rii?

A: Yes, it would be possible to connect that camera to this telescope. However, this telescope is not a great choice to use a 3 thousand dollar camera with. But technically, yes, you could connect this using item 93625 and you would also need a Sony T-Ring. Celestron only offers T-Rings for Canon and Nikon currently.

Q: 8. Can this be used for daytime scoping too?

A: Yes this Model can be used for Terrestrial use during the daytime, since it comes with a 90° Erect-Image Diagonal.

Q: 9. Can I put a atachment to this scope to put a camera?

A: Thank you for your question. While it is technically possible to put a camera on this telescope using a 1.25 standard camera adapter, we would not recommend this for astrophotography. For this scope you might want to try simply shooting through the eyepiece with your phone's camera for simple shots of the moon. This telescope was designed to be used for visual use.

Q: 10. As a beginner, are there any essential accessories I should consider for the base kit?

A: The AstroMaster Accessory Kit #94307 is recommended because it provides two additional 1.25" eyepieces, a 2X Barlow lens, three filters, and a cleaning cloth. This kit will enhance the performance of your Celestron AstroMaster, or most any other telescope. The moon filter will help block some moonlight so you will be able to see more lunar detail. The two color filters (Red and Blue) will highlight features on Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn.
