Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this fit a HP Laptop?

A: The Eartec HB5V1AEU is specifically designed for use with an Eartec Hub system. We would not recommend trying to use it with an HP Laptop.

Q: 2. Is this a standard TRRS cable?

A: No, the Eartec HB35IL Interlink Cable for HUB Mini Base is a proprietary TRRS cable that is wired specifically to link two Eartec HUB Mini Base units together.

Q: 3. is it ok for atem talkback converter ?

A: The Eartec HUB HUBINCC Interface is intended for use with a Clear-Com Intercom System to enable up to eight wireless users to communicate with users of an Eartec HUB Intercom System. It is not compatible for use with Blackmagic Design ATEM switchers.

Q: 4. Can this cable be extended with a default TRRS M to F cable?

A: No. The Eartec Interlink Cable uses proprietary wiring which is different from that of a standard TRRS cable, so a standard TRRS extension cable cannot be used to extend the length of the Eartec cable. This cable is 28.7" long. If you need a custom length, you can order it directly from Eartec.

Q: 5. I need to be able to place the hub on stage while I'm in Video World backstage (or downstairs), how long can the Hub-MAIN cable be? Is this a standard TRS 1/8" cable ?

A: The Eartec Interlink Cable for HUB Mini Base is a proprietary cable that is 28.7" (73 cm) long and used to connect two Eartec HUB Mini Duplex Transceiver Bases together for use with up to 16 wireless headsets and one wired headset. This is the only available cable for linking two HUBs and it does not use standard wiring so you would need to use this specific cable.

Q: 6. Can we use this for a stove

A: This adapter is not recommended for large appliances.

Q: 7. Does this need to be connected to a powered Clearcom line to work?

A: Yes it must be powered.

Q: 8. We currently have a wired Clearcom system. We’d like to add some wireless headsets to that existing system. If we purchase this and the Eartec 4 pack headset this should add that functionality?

A: Yes, you can use this HUB Interface for Clearcom with up to 8 of their ULTRAlite headsets, to add wireless stations to your existing Clearcom hard-wired system.

Q: 9. Can this devise be used with a Smart TV (i.e. Samsung) to add ports?

A: It should but we could not guarantee it, it will depend on what you are plugging in as well and whether your TV supports that or not.

Q: 10. Will this work with RTS intercom systems as well?

A: There is a version (BH #EAHUBINRTS) available for RTS intercom systems: https://bhpho.to/3X0FKPs

These 400w strobes are THE BEST! I was deciding whether I wanted to go for a Godox 600pro or the Westcott 400w because of the extra stop of light, but I've yet to go full flash power on these bad boys in my shoots and it's already giving enough power to light my beautiful models! I recommend this product!

Works just as advertised and is super user-friendly. What else can you ask for?

This was a great deal for the price. The strobe provided great light for indoor sessions. I’d definitely recommend

Used the strobes for the first time yesterday for headshots of an AHL hockey club; purchased them two weeks ago. Very pleased with the ease of use. Controls and menus were very straight forward. Synchronization of strobes to the trigger was easy. Quality of the light was excellent and even when used with two umbrellas with socks. Post-production processing was limited to cropping. The backpack was convenient, saving a trip in moving equipment. Used the trickle-charging capability of the strobes because the number of images to be taken exceeded the expected charge of the batteries. Recommend purchasing an extra battery for the trigger when doing long shoots. Wish I purchased these sooner.

I was able to figure out all relevant functionality of this strobe without ever needing to look at the documentation. This, given my impatience, is quite a testament to the ergonomics/UX design of this system. I use it with Canon and Fuji systems in TTL mode and it works flawlessly. I also use it in manual mode with my film cameras via the Kaiser PC-to-hotshoe adapter and it's wonderful. I had it only for a few weeks and can't comment on battery longevity or reliability, but I love what I've seen so far.

I am not a pro and don't have any studio space, but I do a lot of on-site portraits for organizations. This kit is perfect for ease of transport and set-up, and for not having to rely on cords and wall outlets everywhere. I just did a two-light shoot for marching band portraits. Was able to get 905 shots on battery power before the battery died on the main light, which was set to power level 5 (out of 9). A lesson learned that I have not seen mentioned other places - if you need to use A/C power for these, you are supposed to plug the A/C adapter in with at least 25% charge left on the strobe battery. My main battery ran completely dead and I had to take a 15 minute break to let the battery charge back up some before finishing the shoot on A/C power.

I think the quality and color of light was good and consistent. I like the LED modeling light that is dimmed according to power level. Controls with the remote will take some getting used to, but it does seem to work well. I did notice that most times when changing settings on a light from the remote, the first flash afterwards is way too bright. Because of this, I have started hitting the Test button on the remote after changing settings to fire the strobes once before shooting again. I also did have some images - maybe 6 out of 1100 - where the hair light did not flash. It seems those were the first shot after taking a short break, so maybe something was going to sleep?

The main reason I chose to write a review is to provide photos of the packaging of the kit. This was missing from the B&H listing, though Westcott's own listing did have one photo with the case open. Hopefully these images are useful to others.
