This 52mm Tiffen Water White Glass NATural IRND Filter is a neutral density filter with a 2x filter factor that provides a 1-stop exposure reduction. A: There is an improvement. How much is hard to say. Whether or not is worth it, is a subjective question. We do not know your budget, how often you may use it, etc. If you are happy with current results, then perhaps not.

A: It depends of course on the amount of ambient lighting in your shot. My work flow is to focus first, shoot to check focus, exposure, and composition. You really need to see the image properly expose before adding the filter. Then I shoot a few images with various shutter speeds with the filter on. Eventually you will become intuitive about your exposure times.
