This 62mm Tiffen Water White Glass NATural IRND Filter is a neutral density filter with a 2x filter factor that provides a 1-stop exposure reduction. Its 0.3 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By increasing your aperture or slowing your exposure time, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters are intended to not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

The design of this filter has been optimized for use with digital sensors and to promote nearly flat attenuation of visible light and infrared light. Due to imaging sensors' greater susceptibility to infrared light, compared to traditional film, color casts can occur when photographing darker subjects that require increased exposure times.

This filter is noncoated, is constructed from Water White glass for increased clarity, and features an aluminum-alloy filter ring for durability while remaining lightweight. It is made using ColorCore technology, a process that involves laminating the filter substrate between two pieces of optical glass and grinding flat to a tolerance of 1/10,000th of an inch.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you stack this lens with a Hoya 55 mm UV filter?

A: Yes, the Hoya ProND EX 64 Filter (55mm, 6-Stop) has front and back 55mm threads so it can be stacked.

Q: 2. Is it threaded in front so it can retain lens cap?

A: The Tiffen Multicoated UV Protection Filter (55mm) has a 55mm front thread accesory. You can connect the 55mm lens cap on top of the filter.

Q: 3. Can I put it on a sigma 30 mm lens?

A: In theory you could with a step down ring, but you'll get vignetting on the edges. I'd recommend getting the correct 52mm filter.

Q: 4. Can you get just one large set like 77mm and expect to be able to use them with step up rings, like you can with ND filters?

A: Yes you can. I just tested it using 3 step up rings. You have to focus manually.

Q: 5. I have a Canon 24-105mm f4L(77mm). I already have a 77mm protective filter on it; with threads, so I can stack another filter. What size ND filter should I order?

A: Protective filters have the same size front and rear threads so a 77mm variable ND would be recommended.

Q: 6. Can you use a lens hood with this? I am new to photography and can't seem to find one that would fit in or over this

A: The front of the K&F Concept Nano-X Circular Polarizer plus Variable ND2-ND32 Filter (58mm) is 62mm so you can attach a 62mm hood such as this: https://bhpho.to/3gdgVNq

Q: 7. Can you turn the polorizer the entire way off on this filter?

A: The polarizing effect on the K&F Concept Nano-X ND2-32 Variable Fader & Circular Polarizer HD Green Coated Waterproof Anti-Scratch Japan Optics Filter (77mm) can be reduced, but not turned off.

Q: 8. What lens cap will fit this 77mm filter?

A: You may use any 77mm lens cap. Here are some examples https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/806450-REG/Sensei_lc77_77mm_Center_Pinch_Snap_On.html or https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/850508-REG/Sony_ALC_F77S_ALC_F77S_77mm_Front_Lens.html

Q: 9. Why the green coating on the filter?

A: It aids in the reduction of glare that the filter could encounter according to K&F.

Q: 10. Is This Filter Really A 62mm Filter? Why In The Photo It Says 77mm?

A: Yes, Hoya ProND EX 1000 Filter (62mm, 10-Stop) is 62mm not 77mm.
