All I am interested in doing is getting it dark enough to be able to slow down my shutter speed so that I can get the effect I want. I never have to change filters if the 2 stop or 6 stop isn't enough, I just rotate the filter. Don't think about what number it is just use the the darkness you need. Hope this helps.
