Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you recommend an Audio Interface suitable for hmdc27?

A: There are numerous options for a USB audio interface that can be used to connect the Sennheiser HMDC 27 Professional Broadcast Headset and Cable to a computer. One of the most popular models is the Focusrite Scarlett Solo USB Audio Interface (B&H # FOSCARSOLO3GO), and the Arturia MiniFuse 1 Portable 1x2 USB Type-C Audio Interface (B&H # ARMINIFUSE1B) is another good option. The headset's mic connects to the XLR input on the interface while the headphones connect to the unit's 1/4" TRS headphone jack. You will need to set up your computer's system preferences for audio (sound) to select the interface as the option for the input and output device so the headset's mic and headphones are what will be used for the mic and speakers.

Q: 2. Is this the headset only without the cable? Or does this include a cable?

A: This listing for the Sennheiser Single-Sided Broadcast Headset with Hyper-Cardioid Dynamic Microphone does not include a cable, which should be selected and added separately.

Q: 3. Shure says this doesnt require phantom power.. sooo.. what does that mean? can i plug it into an xlr-usb cable and have it work fine on my pc/mac?

A: An XLR to USB cable alone would not be sufficient to convert the analog output of this mic to a digital signal that a computer can read via USB, so if you plugged it in with just the cable, your computer will not be able to detect the attached microphone and would not be able to use it for recordings. Since it is not a USB mic that has a built-in A/D converter, this item would require the use of an XLR to USB Adaptor (such as the Shure X2U) or other interface connected between the mic and computer.

Q: 4. what is the driver size?

A: Thank you for your question. According to Sennheiser Techs they do not have the exact driver size available for this headset. The approximate it to be 38mm due to the common form factor of this headset line.

Q: 5. Is this compatible with the HMD 280-13 headset?

A: The Sennheiser BMD42 will not work with the HMD 280-13. For a replacement, please request a special order through our phone system for a Sennheiser catalog # 083411.

Q: 6. Are the XLR and 1/4" ends for different feeds? Like one is for microphone, the other for listening?

A: Yes, the Sennheiser HMD 26-II-100 uses a 1/4" TRS connection for its headphones and XLR for its microphone.

Q: 7. Will this Mic perform PA duties at a sporting event ?

A: Yes, but you would need the unterminated cable (B&H # SECABLEII6) available for separate purchase and you would have to solder on your own connectors. If you are looking for a headset that comes with the capability of connecting to the XLR mic input on a mixer and the 1/4'' headphone output on the same mixer, for connection to a PA system at a sporting event, the Sennheiser HMD 26-600-II-XQ comes with the connectors built onto the cable (B&H # SEHMD266IIXQ) and the Audio-Technica BPHS1 (B&H # AUBPHS1) is also a very popular option.

Q: 8. what is the warranty?

A: Included is a Limited 2-Year Warranty from Sennheiser.

Q: 9. Does hmd26 come with xlr cord

A: The Sennheiser HMD 26-600-II-XQ On-Ear Stereo Broadcast Headset with 3-Pin XLR & TRS Connectors (BH # SEHMD266IIXQ) includes the 3' cable that terminates in TRS and XLR connectors.

Q: 10. Does the mic mute when you turn it straight up like on other comm headsets?

A: Yes, the microphone on the Sennheiser HMD 301 PRO-X4F Single-Sided Broadcast Headset can be muted when the boom is moved to an upright position.

I swapped from Wave 3 to the Wave DX + XLR and it’s been a great step up for me. It’s easy to tweak the settings with VST plugins in Wave Link to make the sound exactly how you want it. I have the mic very close to my mouth (10-15cm) and adjusted the settings accordingly. It gives a very clear, cozy sound to my stream and people tell me it sounds just like it does on the radio. I am very happy with this microphone!

Elgato finally came out with an XLR and managed to make it not only affordable, sleek, great sounding out of the box but also made it all work with Wave Link too, every time Elgato add a product to their line up, it's just another product that helps to elevate the quality of my stream & it does it all effortlessly too!

Couldn't recommend this enough for folks that want to take that next jump in quality with their streams!

Full disclosure, I received early access to this mic. I was really nervous about having an XLR-cable mic again because my first experience with another brand was SO stressful. Trying to set up a mixer, and find the right settings for everything, just made the whole process so difficult.

I'm happy to say the Wave DX was literally plug-and-play for me. The Wave XLR is also super easy to use, and you can still adjust any core settings with Wave Link.

The quality is amazing which I appreciate of course (I sound like I'm on a podcast 24/7 now haha) but the fact that I didn't have to spend hours trying to set it up and probably crying was amazing to me. I LOVE IT WOOHOO.

The 'out of the box' sound quality is absolutely superb! The Wave DX works flawlessly with my current setup of Wave XLR, LP Mic Arm & Wavelink Software. The mic has a high end 'premium quality' feel, and looks great in my setup!
