Sigma 50-100mm T2 Fully Luminous High-speed Zoom Lens (sony E, Feet)

The Sigma 50-100mm T2 Cine High-Speed Zoom Lens (Feet) with a Sony E-mount provides an image circle that covers Super 35mm-sized sensors. It features a maximum T-stop of 2, and the aperture does not ramp over the zoom range. It shares common lens gear positions with the other lens in the Sigma High Speed Zoom lineup, which makes for rapid lens changes. What sets this lens apart from the standard Sigma High Speed Zooms is fully luminescent markings. When shooting in dim or dark environments, focus pullers and camera operators will be able to easily discern lens markings without resorting to distracting lamps or other disruptive light sources.
The 9-bladed iris provides round out of focus highlights for a natural-looking bokeh. The lens barrel features 180° of rotation from close focus to infinity, and the zoom barrel rotates 160°, and the clickless iris ring features 60° of rotation. All three lens control rings are geared with cine-standard 0.8 Mod gears and the focus scale is marked in feet. The front of the lens is 95mm in diameter with a removable 1/4"-20 support foot that helps support the lens with the aid of a 1/4"-20 rod-mounted lens support (not included).

All the lenses in the lineup are designed to comply with SIGMA's CCI standard simplifying when intercutting between lenses.
Sharing the same dust-proof and splash-proof construction as the SIGMA 150-600mm F5-6.3 DG OS HSM|Sports, each ring and mount is sealed to prevent water and dust from entering.
The lens body is made completely of metal to stand up to the rigors of the production day.
The main lens markings are in luminous paint for easy visibility in low light situations. The intermediate markings are laser-engraved for durability. The focus and zoom markings are readable from either side of the lens.
The lens features a 95mm front diameter for compatibility with a wide variety of matte boxes and incorporates an 82mm front filter thread.
All three lens gears are standard 0.8 MOD and feature a damper that eliminates metallic sounds when you reach the end of the lens travel.
The lens includes a removable support foot.
Related Questions and Answers
Q: 1. With this lens if I place it on my Red camera in a water housing can i purchase a screw in ND Filter? Or something can be clapped on the front?
A: When using the Sigma 14mm T2 FF High-Speed Prime (EF Mount) you would need to use a dome port. So you would not be able to use a screw in ND Filter or use a clamp. You could get a ND gel filter and place it inside the dome.
Q: 2. When shooting in the set, have you ever thought that you wish the focus of these lenses had a 300-degree rotation instead of 180? Would you mind describing the situation?
A: Large focus throws are imperative when working with significantly shallow depth of field.
Q: 3. Does this lens have auto focus?
A: It does not. This is a Cinema lens, which is manual focus only. You also need to control the zoom and aperture on the lens itself. It is a fully manual lens.
Q: 4. Could you mount this on a 5DIV for taking still images?
A: We're afraid not. This lens only covers up to a Super 35mm sensor, it will not cover the Full Frame of the 5D Mark IV.
Q: 5. Does this cine version have the same focus breathing issue that the still lens version has?
A: These lenses will exhibit some breathing.
Q: 6. What does "fully luminous" mean?
A: For the Sigma 85mm T1.5 Fully Luminous FF High-Speed Prime (EF Mount, Feet), "Fully Luminous" refers to the markers on the lens being glow in the dark so you can view them in low light.
Q: 7. Love this lens but the ARRI LMB 4x5 mattebox 95mm clamp on adapter ring doesn’t cover the gaps on left and right side. In other words, because the lens hood has the cut outs on the left and right side of the lens, the mattebox adapter ring isn’t deep enough to cover those gaps. So, you have to tape the openings each time you use this lens. Or, is there a better solution? A deeper adapter ring? It needs to remain at 95mm so that it’s easy to swap lenses.
A: As an alternative, you can use a 15mm LWS rod system so you can mount the mattebox using ARLMB4515LWS and ARLMB45TFA. https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1341037-REG/arri_k2_0013427_lmb_4x5_15mm_lws.html https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1341036-REG/arri_k2_0014206_lmb_4x5_tilt_and.html
Q: 8. Does this communicate focus distance to a Red Epic?
A: Yes, the RED Epic is among the fully compatible models that work with this lens.
Q: 9. IF I buy in EF mount, can I change it the PL later on? How much would the switch be?
A: I believe not
Q: 10. What is the difference between the normal lens kit, and the kit that says fully luminous feet?
A: The Sigma 50-100mm T2 Fully Luminous High-Speed Zoom Lens (Canon EF, Feet) (BH# SI50100T2CE) is the version of the lens with markings that glow in the dark. The standard version has non glow-in-the-dark markings only. The only difference is the type of paint that is used for those markings.
