The Sennheiser EW 100 ENG G4 camera-mount wireless combo microphone system features the proven combination of reliability, flexible control, and broadcast-quality sound that has made the EW Series an industry standard for videographers, journalists, and content creators all over the world.

Designed to accommodate a wide range of applications, the EW 100 ENG G4 gives you the tools to adapt and meet the wireless challenges that inevitably arise on set. The system includes a bodypack transmitter with an ME 2-II omnidirectional lavalier mic, great for hands-free interviews. Also included is a plug-on transmitter, which can be attached to a handheld dynamic microphone of your choice for man-on-the-street interviews or to a shotgun mic for wireless booming (both types of mics are available separately).

The camera-mount receiver connects to a camcorder or a DSLR/mirrorless camera to capture crisp-sounding speech or dialog, for projects ranging from wedding and corporate videos to documentaries and vlogs.

The EW 100 ENG G4 is backward-compatible with previous evolution systems, giving you the ability to mix and match G4/G3/G2/G1 receivers or bodypack, handheld, and plug-on transmitters. It is also compatible with EW 500 systems.

Note: While this system includes two transmitters, only one can be used at a time.

  • The EW 100 ENG G4 features rugged, all-metal chassis well suited for extended use on location. The lightweight, compact bodypack transmitter is easy to conceal and offers rounded edges that are soft to the touch and comfortable for the talent to wear. A locking connector ensures that your lav doesn’t detach at a critical moment, while a convenient switch allows you to mute your mic.
  • The plug-on transmitter lets you connect any dynamic microphone or battery-powered shotgun mic equipped with an XLR connector (it does not provide phantom power). There is also a switch for muting your mic.
  • Using the included shoemount adapter, the compact receiver easily mounts on your camera without adding much weight. The included cables allow you to connect the receiver to the 3.5mm or XLR audio input of any DSLR/mirrorless, camcorder, or recording device.
  • Both transmitters and the receiver feature daylight-readable LED displays showing reception quality, battery status, and audio level. To get you going quickly, they synchronize via infrared interface with the simple push of a button.

  • The EW 100 ENG G4 ships with the popular ME 2-II omnidirectional lavalier microphone, which delivers a natural sound optimized for speech intelligibility. Its omnidirectional polar pattern ensures that the sound remains consistent, even when the speaker's head moves away from the mic.
  • To take full advantage of the microphones' dynamic range, the system employs proprietary HDX compander technology, preserving your sound without adding unwanted noise during transmission, and delivering audio with remarkable accuracy and quality.

  • Adaptive-diversity reception for reliable transmission up to 330'
  • 42 MHz bandwidth with 1680 tunable UHF frequencies for interference-free reception
  • Frequency scan function automatically searches for the cleanest frequency at your location
  • 20 frequency banks, each with up to 12 factory-preset channels to prevent intermodulation
  • Adjustable input sensitivity on both transmitters accommodates mic levels ranging from booming voices to quiet speech, and even line-level audio
  • Pilot tone squelch for eliminating RF noise when transmitter is turned off
  • Receiver with adjustable output range of 42 dB to match the audio input of your camera or recording device
  • User-friendly menu operation with flexible control options
  • Transmitter and receiver feature 4-step battery-life indicator
  • Auto-Lock function avoids accidental changing of settings
  • RF Mute function
  • 8 hours of battery life
  • Powered via AA batteries or rechargeable BA 2015 Accupack batteries (available separately)
  • Side contacts for recharging Accupacks without removing them from either the bodypack transmitter or receiver—requires the L 2015 quick-charging unit (available separately)
  • Operate up to 12 wireless mics at once on set
  • Unlike digital wireless systems, the EW series transmitters can transmit to an unlimited number of EW Series receivers
  • Wide range of accessories adapts the system to a variety of applications

  • Bandwidth: Up to 46 MHz vs up to 88 MHz
  • UHF Frequencies: 1680 vs up to 3520
  • RF Output Power: Fixed 30 mW vs adjustable 10/30/50 mW

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can you buy an additional transmitter and sync it to record two subjects direct to camera? Or do you need to purchase two units?

A: Short answer is no you can not, you will need an additional system if you want to record two subjects. You can send one transmitter to multiple receivers, but not the other way around. One receiver cannot receive signals of two transmitters. There are only a few select systems on the market that have a dual receiver built into one body.

Q: 2. Hi, just bought two of these. When I plug them into the separate XLR channels on my Sony fs7, there is a noticeable hiss being recorded. When I only plug in one, the hiss goes away. Any suggestions? Thanks. Each is set to a different frequency.

A: Try each channel individually to see if there is a noise floor isolated to one channel. I would also recommend double checking that the level from each system is as close to the same as possible.

Q: 3. Other than the ME2II lav mic (upgraded?), what is different about the 112 G4 generation wireless compared to the 112 G3 systems?

A: The new Sennheiser p-112 G4 system has features above that of the G3 series, such as the SK 100 G4 bodypack transmitter and the EK 100 G4 receiver, which sport an updated high-contrast LCD display, blue sync LED, and a dedicated escape button. The G4 series includes the ME 2-II Omnidirectional Clip-On Lav Mic, with improved lighter-weight design above the ME2 mic that comes with the G3 series. It also features an integrated windscreen and better frequency response. The Sennheiser ew 112P G4 system will come in appropriate frequency ranges that are in accordance with recent changes in allocation by the FCC.

Q: 4. Will it work with DSLR cameras (specifically a Canon 7D)?

A: Yes. You need to run the receiver into the camera via a 3.5 mm jack.

Q: 5. Which set of frequencies might be best for the Hudson Valley region of New York from Westchester to Albany?

A: The A band would be best for the EW112PG4 system. BH #SEEW112PG4A.

Q: 6. can you remove the round windscreen?

A: Yes, the round metal windscreen on the Sennheiser ME 2-II lavalier microphone can be removed. Replacements are available -- Sennheiser MZW-2EW Steel Mesh Windscreen for ME2 Microphone (B&H # SEMZW2EW) or Auray Metal Windscreen for Senal OLM2 and Sennheiser ME2 Microphones (B&H # AUWLMOLM2S).

Q: 7. Hi, I was hoping to know what the best frequency range for New York City would be?

A: NYC is a very flooded market with something on every frequency. The frequency bank you choose will not matter as much as making sure you do a scan at every new location you go to.

Q: 8. What kind of cable do I need to plug the receiver into a Canon C70 video camera? I understand the Canon C70 has mini XLR ports.

A: Blackmagic Design Set of 2 Mini XLR to XLR Audio Cables for Video Assist 4K (19.5") B&H # BLAXLRMINI2: https://bhpho.to/3r70SF5 OR: Kondor Blue Mini-XLR Male to XLR Female Audio Cable for Canon C70 & BMPCC 6K/4K (Black, 16") B&H # KOMXLR16BK: https://bhpho.to/3xEC35U

Q: 9. When choosing the 112G4 lava mic how do I know what frequency range to choose?

A: The Sennheiser ew 112P G4 Camera Mount Wireless Microphone System with ME 2-II Lavalier Mic will come with 1680 Tunable Frequencies Across 42 MHz, so you will find plenty of open frequencies in any of the three blocks available. To help select an appropriate operating frequency range, the Sennheiser website offers a tool called the Frequency Finder. (Found here: http://bit.ly/2FrbS7v). This tool will show you which frequencies are open in your geographical area.

Q: 10. Is there any downside to getting two systems that are in different bands (e.g. A and G)?

A: There is not.

I use these and the Sonys and they’re both as good but these were cheaper. No surprises, just quality sound for interviews and even some fiction pieces

Used it to get several interviews. The sound is crystal clear but I would recomend to change the lavalier mic and use a better one

I have both G4 and G3 now, and I actually bought the G3 after the G4 had been released. I was worried about the quality of the new units, but it turns out I was wrong! I experience less dropoffs, better battery life, faster scanning, and it looks more modern as well. The only negative is that I don't like the lapel mic adapter, but the audio quality is just as good.

I was expecting a more complicated solution. This is my very first time purchasing Sennheiser audio. It was truly plug and play out of the box. Very pleased and will purchase Sennheiser audio equipment again.

I was hesitant to buy a wireless mic I had one
in past and it was stolen

So, I decided not to bother with it because the
one I had was buggy and didn’t

Work well, this thing is night and day from the
one I had in the past

It’s very reliable and it just works right out
of the box without having to do

Anything. I will be getting a few more.

As with any other piece of precision equipment, set up is crucial. Especially so with this mic. We thought we knew what we were doing and skipped this step and felt dissatisfied until we looked on YouTube found out what we were doing wrong. Now, we could not be more satisfied! Good sonority and presence. Minimal ambient noise pickup. Good range. You won’t be sorry if you purchase this set With Sennheiser, that extra money is buying you extra quality.
