The 72mm Ice UV Filter is a general-use clear filter designed to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. Aside from the reduction of unwanted blue casts, no additional coloration or contrast is created, and adjustments to exposure are not required while using this filter. To prevent internal ghosting and reflections, each glass surface includes eight layers of antireflection coating. This coating also offers protection to the filter substrate and helps it to stay clean for longer than uncoated filters.

The Ice UV filter is constructed from optical glass for increased clarity as well as color fidelity and features a slim aluminum alloy filter ring that helps prevent vignetting. A: Yes the filter has a 82mm front thread, the same size as the original thread on the 24-70mm f/2.8 GM lens. The issue is that the thread on the filter is not as deep as the thread on the lens.
