The Profilux LED1000x Daylight Flood from Hedler is a compact daylight-balanced fixture with a built-in electronic ballast that's suitable for video or still photography. The LED1000x's efficient LED lamp consumes 185W of power yet outputs many times that number in equivalent tungsten light and with a high CRI of 95. The fixture is fully dimmable too. The housing has a QuickFit adapter that allows easy use of all reflectors, softboxes plus a 4-way barndoor set to modify the light. A number of safety measures have been incorporated such as integrated overheating protection and an LED safety switch-off. Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this come with a plug?

A: Yes, one 2-prong plug for each fixture.

Q: 2. If I wanted to switch out fluorescents for Tungsten bulbs, which would I use?

A: Hi Victoria, there are 3200k CFL bulbs out there. Alzo is a good brand. The large CFLs are a bit heavy for the stands, so it's wise to get the standard size bulbs. There are also some new 3000k LED E26 bulbs made by Eiko and others. I use LED bulbs and really like them.

Q: 3. can we use it in EU 230V?

A: This kit is only suitable for use on 110v power.

Q: 4. Are these lights silent? What about after a year? I've worked with low-end flo kits that buzzed and I don't want to waste my money on buzzy lights.

A: They don't have a buzz to them. They have a slight little noise but it's tolerable. They are not very bright though :/

Q: 5. Could this be used to shoot a video interview in a small room with a DSLR? I want to make sure I have enough lighting for 24fps at 1/50th...? It doesn't have to have a lot of emotion or anything, just has to be well lit to look like quality recording.

A: Yes this will work very well. If the room is small, you may have too much light with all the bulbs installed. The light can be easily adjusted by distance to the subject and number of bulbs in each fixture. I have been very pleased with this unit. Lots of good light, at around 5200K as I recall. Very well constructed and should give years of good service.

Q: 6. What is the total weight of this kit?

A: I will try and estimate and get back to you.

Q: 7. Is this kit suited for video recording?

A: Yes. I purchased the kit for my daughter a couple years back. She has used them for both still photography and video recording using her Canon T3i.

Q: 8. Can the bulbs be illuminated individually? can you either switch off one or many bulbs or unscrew them so only 1 or two are on at a time?

A: Although each socket cannot be switched on/off individually, you can remove as many bulbs as you wish and still operate the light. Personally, I switch between setups with two 64W CFL bulbs and two empty sockets, and setups with four 26W bulbs and both work perfectly (have been doing so for about a year). To make things even easier, the white section on the softboxes are removable, so switching out bulbs for a different color balance or different bulbs is easy. I hope that answers your question!

Q: 9. I'm relatively new to video and lighting, but I bought this kit about five months ago when it was up for a one day sale here on B&H. My question is, would I be able to connect a dimmer of some sort to this light and adjust the light output? I know you can do that for some lights, just not sure if that's something you can do with florescent lights and this fixture in particular. Thanks in advance.

A: Unfortunately, since the lamps of this kit are self-ballasted, standard in-line dimmers would not work and there is risk of burning out the lamp. A good way to reduce the output is with the use of a neutral density filter on the lights. The Rosco E-Colour #210 .6 ND filter, B&H# ROE210S is a safe bet and will reduce the light by 2 stops of light. Please see the image below for reference.

Q: 10. I am new to lighting set up, can I switch the bulb holders to hold flashes/sped light?

A: If your question relates to re-dedicating the stand to hole another fixture , then the answer is yes. I don't have the gear handy to measure, but tripods/stands have various stud diameters and I'd look at the Impact product specification to get the size. From there, you can see if your fixture will mate onto that stud.If you look closely at the thumb nut on the bottom of the fixture, this is the means of tightening it onto the stud.
