This is the goat when it comes to 35mm film camera. I 'm glad Leica is still making it. Love it!

The MP is outstanding. Build construction and design are of the highest quality. The MP's body feels like its a solid brick of metal, seriously. The view finder has less of the flare-up issue in certain situations. The all metal M3 style film advance is just solid and good looking. After only four days I have already shot eight rolls of HP5! Shooting with the MP is just FUN. I don't know how to describe the feeling, shooting the MP with film bring so much more joy than any digital camera i have ever used. The MP puts the ball back in my court and shows me my weakness. No AF or AE to fall back on, 100% my successes and 100% my failures. Nothing to blame but myself. In the end the camera was built for shooting. ISO dial is firm and stays in place, shutter speed dial is stiff but not to stiff, the film rewind crank isn't as big an issues as people make it out to be I personally like it. If you choose to buy this Leica do it justice and shoot with it!

Discrete, small, intuitive, reliable, all without compromising image quality. Now, that's one heck of a camera. In the eyes of the public who have been trained (either consciously or subconsciously) to equate a 'serious camera' to a massive black bodies of the SLRs, this unassuming photographic machine goes unnoticed most of the times. Combined with near silent shutter, subjects often do not realize they are being photographed less than a meter away. This provides massive confidence in me to push my creativity without altering my surrounding with my presence. The smooth operation of the camera combined with significant heft, this camera feels almost magical in my hands and gives me that extra inspiration to stick around a little longer, try a little harder, and get out more often. Whether one intends to use this camera on the streets, traveling, photojournal assignments, or on family moments, I am confident that this camera will help one to create unique images that no SLRs can capture from simply being unobtrusive to both the surroundings and to the photographer himself.

I purchased the Leica MP with a 35mm F/2 Summicron and use this for general walk-around/travel photography. I don't consider myself a street photographer, but I've been intrigued with rangefinder cameras for quite some time. Build quality is amazing. The camera feels like a solid block of metal. I would have preferred a match needle meter instead of the LED lights, but there's really not much to complain about. I'm a left-eye shooter, so things can get a little uncomfortable with the winder, but I'm used to that from my older cameras. Holding the camera properly takes some getting used to. I found myself covering the rangefinder mirror on the right side by accident on a few occassions. Also, I wish faster shutterspeeds were available, but I understand there are limitations due to the type of shutter used. Overall, the MP is a pleasure to use, and is quickly becoming my favorite camera.

I’ve been looking longingly at this camera for quite a long time. Recently, I was in the position financially to commit and am very glad I did.

I’ve read nearly everything online about this camera and watched all of the reviews. One of the recurring themes seemed to be having to use it to really understand it, something I thought somewhat ridiculous and probably just a coping mechanism to justify the large amount of dough these people just dropped. But, as soon as I cocked the shutter, held it in my hands and shot a frame, it was something I understood immediately.

There really is something intangibly great about this camera. Operation cannot be any smoother. The feel cannot be better. It may actually be mechanical perfection.

If you are in the market for a film M camera and are willing to beg your husband or wife to allow you to spend copious amounts of money, go for this one.

Are you kidding me? It just doesn't get any better than this. This camera is pure pleasure every time you press the shutter or advance the frame. A truly amazing instrument and worth every penny. You'll have to pry mine out of my cold dead hands as the saying goes.

It is always a treat to use Leica M cameras and this MP model is outstanding. The MP is a wonderful tool for creating images that feel totally handcrafted in that special Leica M way.

When it comes to rangefinders, this is the goat. It will outlast you. There is nothing quite like it. I don't even want to look at the re-issue M6. The value of the MP will appreciate as evident by its steadily increased pricing over the years. When you pass this camera to your grandchildren, they will appreciate the value. Need I say more?

I enjoy using all kinds of cameras for various types of photography, including Nikon SLRs I can praise endlessly. That being said, this is the pinnacle of simplicity and function. With this you just make pictures with ease and accuracy and mechanical perfection. You will want nothing more and get nothing less than what you need. A huge selection of lenses from leica to Voigtlander will give you anything you want at any price point but with the solid foundation of a camera body that just works. There is nothing like a brand new MP.

The photographic force within you awakens after using this camera. After a decade spent away from film, I'm back in the game. This lovely little gem is the perfect way to reinvigorate your photography!
