Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Does this come with Portabrace items sold with bag from their manufacturer site or just the case? Specifically, - 1x CARA-BRNZ Carabiner & Flashlight - 1x HB-15 Shoulder Strap - 1x PS-6a Velcro Cable Wrap, 6"" - 2x RX-STRIP Audio Recorder Strip - 2x DIV-5X11.75CORR Corrugated Dividers ??

A: Thank you for your question. This item comes with just the case by itself with no additional accessories.

Q: 2. What size fits this porta brace?, for example my size for a serious shirt m, because I see that the person in the picture that shows the product is one size larger.

A: I'm an asian M. My shoulder width is about 1'15, and this is a little bit big for me. However, with the velcro straps (there's a lot of flexibility), I'm still able to get a good fit.

Q: 3. Will this work with the MixPre-3 Mark II?

A: Yes, the Porta Brace AR-MIXPRE3 Field Audio Bag is compatible for use with the MixPre-3 II.

Q: 4. What's the difference between the AO-MIXPRE10S and the AO-MIXPRE10TS?

A: The -S is the silent version with rubber tipped zippers and magnets to avoid noise during recording.

Q: 5. Will this support a large Sony L battery sled in the bottom panel. And is there access to the battery sled and SD card from the bottom of the bag?

A: The bottom of this bag has a cover that is extendable and can be opened and closed with velcro. The cover is long enough fro large Sony battery at lease for one. It does look large enough tho.

Q: 6. What is the max waist size?

A: It is adjustable from 43 1/2 " to 59"

Q: 7. When can I buy it?

A: Expected availability: 6-8 weeks

Q: 8. Does the MixPre-3 fit in this bag?

A: Yes, the Sound Devices MixPre-3 will fit in the PortaBrace AR-MIXPRE6 Field Audio Bag for MixPre-6 Recorder. The MixPre-6 is slightly larger than the MixPre-3. The dimensions of the MixPre-6 are 6.5 x 1.4 x 4.6" and the dimensions for the MixPre-3 are 5.7 x 1.4 x 4.3". So the bag is going to be a bit larger than required. As another options, you may prefer the PortaBrace Field Audio Bag for MixPre-3 Recorder (B&H # POARMIXPRE3) which is the same bag, but designed for the MixPre-3.

Q: 9. Is this product compatible with f8 zoom?Do you have it in stock?

A: No it is not. Portabrace offes a dedicated case for the Zoom F8 recorder. Porta Brace ATV-Z8 Audio Tactical Vest for Zoom F8 Portable Recorder B&H # POATVZ8 It is currently in stock.

Nice bag for traveling light, and you WILL travel light as there's not much room. Fortunately, for me, it's exactly what I was looking for.

Well-constructed bag with easy access to controls, jacks, and battery.

Best field recorder in this price range, and punches well above its weight in regards to sound quality, flexibility and build quality.

Used this as my main recorder for a few features and tons of small jobs in between.

Its very easy to use, the preamps are very quiet and have tons of headroom, even before you push 32bit files. Time code is rock solid and I've jammed this to an Ambient Nanolockit for 12 hours a day with no drift.

OS is very easy to navigate and the Wingman App is great. 6 inputs is very flexible for small productions and the only real thing it's "missing" would be another stereo output, but again for the size and price it evens out.

The battery life is a non-issue because there is no recorder with this much power that can reliably run off AAs; they're a backup. The upside is it runs off inexpensive USB battery banks so you can run this for 15 hours or so with a $50 battery.

It's not a replacement for an 8 series, but it would make a great backup to that unit, and it's the clear winner compared to anything from Zoom/Tascam in the price range.

I received the bag yesterday. For the price, the look and features are phenomenal. I use it with the mixpre 6 II and MX-L Mount. In order to use it with the L Mount I had to lift the mixpre and readjust the velcro straps. The fit is nice and snug. No problem with closing the bag. The new range of power and portability take the mixpre to a higher level.

What an amazing equipment. It’s so well build and the whole experience navigating through the menu and operating is so smooth and well thought. I’ve owned a Zoom for years but now I really understand the difference and the incredible advantages of the sound device.

The operation/menu system is incredible intuitive and you feel familiar very quickly.

This equipment is so compact and easy to carry around in smaller productions.

I’m really happy to have purchased this instead of the F6.

Thank you sound Devices for making incredible equipments.

Having purchased a Sound Devices MixPre3ii for a variety of recording scenarios. I didn't need any protection for recording actvities at home but with it's diminutive size alone being a factor, I definitely had a need for a multi faceted carry all type bag for whenever it went out the door.

Enter the Orca OR-270.

Access from every angle I can think of along with enough protection needed for a delicate device. Enough extra storage for power options and leads.
Pretty perfect IMHO

Only been a week, but this bag is working great for me. Perfectly suspends my MixPre 6 on the internal frame. Too narrow for most portable batteries but I've found the RavPower USB C Power Bank 15000mAh Fast Charging Slim Portable Charger18W PD3.0 fits perfectly and has enough juice to run for hours. But for a full day shoot, I'd recommend two. The front pouch perfectly holds my Saramonic Blink 500 pro kit.

It's also nice that the side zippers extend all the way to the access the bottom of the unit given that's where the battery pack and sd card port live.

I wanted the smallest bag for my small kit. Everything I need and nothing extra is in this bag.

I own the Zoom H6 recorder and when looking to upgrade I first purchased the Zoom F-6 recorder. The specs for the Zoom F-6 looked great and I liked how one could attach NP-F batteries without needing a sled adapter. But when it came time to make the initial configuration changes I encountered a user interface like something from the 1980's.

The Sound Devices has a truly intuitive interface with its color touch screen and overall configuration and settings layout and menu structure. I also liked being able to easily gang two of the pots so for stereo mics I only needed to adjust one dial to change the gain of both channels.

The primary defects in terms of its design is having the SD card slot blocked by any sled that is attached and having the On/Off switch very difficult to access when a USB-C power cable is attached.

On the plus side the USB-C port works well to power the MixPre for more than a dozen hours with a single power bank. The MixPre also has the copy to USB so a thumbdrive and collect the files from the USB-A port on the recorder.
