A truly fast prime designed for Fujifilm G-mount medium format mirrorless cameras, the Speedmaster 85mm f/1.2 Lens from Mitakon Zhongyi pairs the bright maximum aperture with a slightly longer-than-normal perspective for extensive focus control and enhanced low-light shooting. The optical design incorporates two extra-low dispersion elements with four high refractive index elements to reduce chromatic aberrations and distortions in order to achieve notable sharpness, even at wide apertures. Additionally, the lens features a manual focus design with a floating elements system, along with a de-clicked, silent aperture ring to benefit both still and video applications. Ideally suited for portraiture, the refined optical design and fast maximum aperture help to isolate subject matter and deliver a high degree of sharpness and clarity.

Slightly long 85mm prime is designed for use with Fujifilm G-mount medium format mirrorless cameras where it provides a 67mm equivalent focal length.

Fast f/1.2 maximum aperture benefits working in difficult lighting conditions and also enables extensive control over your focus position to benefit the use of selective focus and shallow depth of field techniques.

Two extra-low dispersion elements and four high refractive index elements help to reduce chromatic aberrations and distortions throughout the aperture range for greater sharpness, clarity, and color accuracy.

Manual focus design utilizes a floating elements system to permit focusing on subjects as close as 3.3' away.

De-clicked, stepless aperture ring permits smooth, silent aperture adjustment to benefit video applications.

An 11-blade rounded diaphragm contributes to a pleasing out-of-focus quality when working with selective focus techniques.

All-metal lens barrel features printed depth of field and focus scales. Additionally, a metal lens mount also offers increased durability between the lens and camera.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. How is focus breathing for video work?

A: The Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 65mm f/1.4 Lens for Fujifilm G exhibits minimal focus breathing.

Q: 2. Does this focus the Canon/Zeiss direction or the Pentax/Nikon direction? Photos show it focusing and f-stopping backwards to all my other Nikon lenses.

A: The focus ring on the Mitakon Zhongyi Speedmaster 85mm f/1.2 Lens for Nikon F focuses counter clockwise or in other words, normal like Canon and all other camera brands.

Q: 4. If I use this on an A7Rii and use Metabones Adapter Ultra ii 0.71x, is it still going to be fullframe? Do I need to crop it?

A: Unfortunately Mitakon lenses do not support EXIF data.

Q: 6. Does it have focus confirmation? It seems that it does but nothing is mentioned on camera specs .

A: Focus peaking would be determined by the camera. If the camera does support that feature, you will be able to use it with the lens.

Q: 7. Does it work with the metering of the gfx?

A: If is a manual aperture lens so you set your ISO, shutter speed and then turn the aperture until the exposure meter needle matches the exposure you want. The aperture size is not controlled by the camera. That is your job.

Q: 8. Is this a lens that would work on Nikon D3400?

A: Yes, this will mount onto your camera.

Q: 9. Is the focus and aperture ring geared or fly-by-wire?

I hesitated buying this lens for YEARS, because of the mixed reviews online. In the end, I decided to take a chance because there was no denying the beauty of the images I was seeing.

Now that I finally own it, I wish I had made the purchase sooner.

Pros:
Sharp (for me) at f/1.4.
Gentle and natural fall off from the point of focus.
Smooth bokeh.

Cons:
Heavy.

I use this with my 50S and I love it. Long throw but gives me precise control of focus. With the AF assist I’m able to nail focus wide open when I slow down. I’m use to shooting film and manual focus lenses so there wasn’t much adjustment for me. It’s perfect for portraits as it i don’t mind being a little softer on the skin anyway.
