With a magnification and objective lens combination favored for its ability to make detailed observations of distant subjects, even in challenging light, the Opticron 10x42 DBA VHD+ Monocular is an ideal companion for those who spend their time in the field or at the range.

The DBA is outfitted with anti-reflection fully multi-coated extra low-dispersion glass and phase-corrected dielectric-coated roof prisms to deliver bright and clear high-contrast images that are free from comas and fringing with accurate color fidelity. A wide 60° apparent angle of view produces an immersive observational experience while helping to mitigate the appearance of the distracting hand-shake that is common when holding high-power optics. For those who want to observe small insects, bugs, birds, flora, and fauna the DBA is engineered with a short 5-foot close focus distance.

Complementing the optical performance are construction details that will help it withstand the rigors of the outdoors. The optical tube is nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and submersible to a depth of 5 feet, while also being resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme changes in temperature or environmental conditions. The tube is wrapped in protective rubber armor that provides a slip-resistant grip in cold and wet weather. Weighing under 12 ounces and measuring less than 6 inches in length, the DBA VHD+ will easily fit in a pack or pocket without adding excessive bulk to make it an invaluable addition to your kit.

Feels solidly made. The twist action is smooth and easy to use, but with only about 15mm to grip on by the eye cup it wouldn't be great with gloves or limited hand mobility. It's small enough to easily fit in a pocket, but still gives a good view. It works well enough at long distances, but where it really shines is up close. At 30cm you can see a lot of detail in plants and insects.

The lens caps are a bit fiddly. They included one cap that fits the front or rear and an identical looking cap that's 1mm wider and won't grip on the front. It only takes a couple extra seconds to sort out,

Clear, crystal imaging. Straightforward and simple focusing. Coating seems to be holding up on the lenses. No clouding on cool humid days.

I thought this might be a frivolous purchase, but I've found it to be incredibly handy. It is light and small and easily fits into my pack pocket. Great for seeing details on birds and for looking at textures up close. The optics are super clear. I'm afraid I will lose the lens caps, but otherwise, this is a great tool for anyone who likes to travel light. Love it.

Nice, lightweight monocular. Optics fairly decent. Perfect for longer hikes when heavy binocs are impractical.

This is a great gift from my husband. He noticed that I always closed one eye when using binoculars. This Bushnell monocular is an excellent choice. I have been using it for birding and I love it!
