Moreover, the tripod has independent leg spread, which allows it to conform to uneven terrain, but the legs can completely splay out to have a minimum height of 3.7", and it folds down to 22.6" when not in use. Located at the top of the tripod, the spider has a built-in leveling base that helps to straighten out your horizons, and also features a 3/8"-16 male threaded mount. The maximum loading capacity of the tripod is 99.2 lb, so it is capable of handling large telephoto lenses and cameras without moving an inch.

Q: 1. Can you Remove the ball head and swap with something else? is so, how big is the screw?

A: Yes, you can remove the ball head, the screw is a standard 5/8

Q: 2. I am now on my second Black MeFoto Carbon fiber Globetrotter. I returned the first one because the center column would not raise and lower smoothly without the lock ring loosened almost completely. It would bind and stick. The replacement they sent is a bit better. The legs work smoothly. Has anyone else experienced this with the carbon Fiber Globetrotter?

A: I have not experienced any issues with my black carbon fiber tripod. Everything functions as expected. I am very happy with my purchase.

Q: 3. Just double checking - do this come ready with plate for camera? I am shipping to my travel destination, so need to ensure I can mount my camera out of the box! :-)

A: Yes, it does.

Q: 4. What is the largest diameter of the tripod when it is folded?

A: approximately 15 in diamter

Q: 5. Is resistant to water and dust

A: Yes. MeFOTO states their twist lock legs and anti-rotation system provides weather and dust-resistance, and the foam grip on the monopod leg is designed to be beneficial in extreme temperatures when the other tripod legs may heat or freeze from extreme temperatures. It would be recommended for use in a myriad of weather and photographic situations.

Q: 6. Will this tripod and head assembly be able support my Pentax 645z?

A: Spec says Otis goodto25.6 lbs. Generally, I cut that in half. Have not much experience with ours, but a Impressed with the overall quality. Think you will find this a good one.

The GlobeTrotter feels nice to the touch. It's pretty lightweight considering it's max height. It's also super sturdy. I also love the monopod feature, that way I don't have to purchase another monopod. The ball head is better than some I've seen and the built-in level is useful. It comes with a cool carrying case that makes everything come together quite nicely. The GlobeTrotter Carbon leaves you feeling satisfied that you bought it even after the first day you get it. Overall I had really good impressions of MeFoto and this purchase just strengthened that feeling.

This unit folds up small enough to fit in a carry-on bag but stands tall enough to not require a 5'10 person to stoop over uncomfortably to do a full day's shooting. For the price, the product fills the bill right nicely.

I bought the MeFoto Globetrotter for wilderness wildlife photography with a Canon 60D sporting a sigma 120-400 f-4 lens. The tripod is lightweight without sacrificing sturdiness. It's perfect for strapping onto a backpace and provides a solid foundation for my camera/lens setup. Making this purchase even better was the excellent service provided by B&H.

Haven't had much chance to take it out for a spin yet but initial tests are positive. Works great as a light stand for my speed light, post thread mounts easily on a TT5 PW trigger as the base with a speed light on top. One detractor but this is a problem with many tripods, if your 6 feet or taller, man or woman.. you will find it uncomfortable to crouch down at weird angles in order to sight in your lense. (sometimes OVF is required for proper focus). Build quality is great, the ball-head is not as good as i'd like but it's great for the combined value of getting a CF tripod and a ball-head mount that all weigh a little over 2 pounds combined.

I hear this MEFOTO name is part of the BENRO manufacturer. This tripod is priced similer to their tripods and it shares undeniable resemblan-This thing is light and pretty fast, all without feeling as if you've sacrificed strength.I've used it with heavy lenses and it can manage them pretty well, if you're a sports shooter just grab a larger video tripod or something.Just use common sense when buying your tripod. These should give you years and years worth of usage. The supplied head is decent but not super.I reccomend a larger ballhead with large knobs for adding and loosening tension.I have a Really Right Stuff ballhead fixed to mine and it works okay.

Casual non-pro using it for scenic outdoor photos. Very lite weight and case is easy to carry. Using basic head until I am sure of what features I really need in an upgrade.
