The ATH-M50x features proprietary 45mm large-aperture dynamic drivers with rare earth (neodymium) magnets and CCAW (copper-clad aluminum wire) voice coils for high-quality sound reproduction.

The drivers and headphone design work together to provide a sonic signature tuned flat for exceptional clarity throughout an extended frequency range along with deep, accurate bass character. With a frequency response of 15 Hz to 28 kHz, the ATH-M50x can reproduce a full spectrum of tones.

The ATH-M50x utilizes a circumaural design that contours around the ears for excellent sound isolation in loud environments. This over-ear, closed-back style is optimal for reducing bleed and separating you from outside sounds.

Equipped with 90° swiveling earcups, the ATH-M50x ensures a great fit and allows effortless one-ear monitoring, a welcome benefit for DJs and singers. The earcups fold up to meet the headband, saving space during storage. A carrying pouch is supplied for protection and convenience while transporting the headphones.

To expand its versatility, the ATH-M50x incorporates a detachable cable design that exits from the left side. This enables convenient cable swapping and makes it easier to distinguish the different sides of the headphone. Three cables are included—a 3.9 to 9.8' coiled cable, a 9.8' straight cable, and a 3.9' straight cable—to let you choose the best cable for sessions, traveling, or listening at home.

The attached cable is terminated with a gold-plated 3.5mm TRS mini plug for easy hookup to mobile devices, MP3 players, and computer headphone jacks. A secure 1/4" screw-on adapter is included for compatibility connectivity with audio interfaces, mixers, and dedicated headphone amplifiers. Built-in strain relief on the 3.5mm mini plug reduces the likelihood of damaging the connection if the cable is pulled.

Thanks to the pro-grade earpad and headband materials used in the ATH-M50x, the headphones provide increased durability and comfort while delivering enhanced audio and effective isolation.

I had been using Bose open-backed headphones for in-studio monitoring and casually music listening. They worked great and I had zero issues with them, until I starting doing location work in loud rooms. I desperately needed a good closed back set of headphones AND I didn't want to break the bank.

These cans are awesome! First off they sound great. Great frequency response, great specs overall. Of course they solved my on-location issues of my open-backed Bose headphones. The closed back kills most of the ambient room noise. These headphones are solidly built. Great construction!

Things I love about them:
- the cans swivel 90 degrees forward and back. Great for one ear monitoring.
- Solid build, they don't feel cheap
- they fold nicely and store in the supplied bag
- and the best thing is the removable / locking cables. Yes cables! First off, they are removable, replaceable twist lock cables. and you don;t just get one... you get three! a 4' straight cable, a 10' straight cable and a 10' coiled cable. Very strategic... very appreciated!!
- And they didn't break the bank

Although it took me quite some time to settle on this really nice headphone set (wanted the M70x, but were $100 more & the gap is higher today), once the Audio-Technica ATH-M50x arrived, I fell in love!

I guess that was the case, because until then, the only headphones I owned were those that were $30 or less in cost. This set really delivers & if I had to buy another, would do it all over again.

The music & movies sounds so good, enabling Windows Sonic for Headphones provides a bit more life for some content, although not needed for all. Just try & see.

Also works well plugged into the monitor, powered by the NVIDIA audio (PC) or when watching Roku Ultra or Amazon 4K Fire Stick. Even after all of my usage, these has held up great, the highs, lows & in between are all there. I believe the sound is better coming from the Roku & Fire Stick vs the PC, probably because both are newer technologies & the ATH-M50x can keep up with the times.

Although this is now considered by some an 'older' model, I like to think it's a more of a time tested classic.

Have been enjoying for over two years & highly recommend this headphone model. When it goes, Audio-Technica will be my first choice for replacement & B&H will be the first place I'll be looking!

This is the second pair of these that I have owned. The first ones lasted me about 5 years of brutal wear and tear. These new ones have been redesigned and I love the changes. Better build quality, better sound quality, and much better materials. The old version had an issue with the fabric on the top peeling up and shedding so every time I used them I would end up with little black plastic pieces in my hair. I also love that you can disconnect the cable from the headphones if needed. I would imagine if there were ever to be an issue with the cable itself you could just replace it.

I've been trying to up my audio editing game. I owned a cheap pair of wired studio headphones and Galaxy Buds2 Pro that I used for editing, but when testing on different TVs, tablets, and phones, the result was never consistent. I recently recorded a music event and decided to buy something made for the studio. After a lot of reading, I decided on these. I was not disappointed. I could hear everything clearly and evenly. I was easily able to get the audio tuned so it sounded good and level on all devices. I am a big believer in using the right tool for the job. For fine tuning audio, these are the right tool.

A lot of other monitor headphones i tried are a bit too dry but these have a decent amount of bass. It is all up to personal preference but as a musician I mix better with these as I can feel a better balance of all the instruments/vocals. If you are looking for something with no bass then these won't be for you but, if you are looking for something both a consumer and a creator would use this would be it!

The headphones have a great sound quality and quite a good isolation from the environmental sounds. I love the fact that it has 3 different choices of cables. It is really handy if you work in different conditions. They are also very confortable to wear.
