Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are these filters an advantage for speech also, or mainly singing? I never see them at speeches - only studios. Although, sometimes there is a foam filter over the mic..

A: This gooseneck filter is invaluable for speaking AND singing. Plosively popping Ps are particularly problemeatic without this piece in place. (Say that out loud and you'll see what I mean.) The foam and fur covers are for moving air surrounding the mic -- the wind outside or drafty interiors. I'm generalizing here, and sometime to super-isolate the mic I'll use both, with the addition of a foam backscreen or gobo. You lose a tiny bit of high end sometimes but there's no substitute for keeping air from blasting into the mic and ruining the sound.

Q: 2. How wide does it open?

A: About 1 1/8 at the tip and about 1 at the inside of the opening.

Q: 3. What is the min. and max. boom diameter that this can handle?

A: The Savage Heavy-Duty Boom Clamp is specifically made to use a C stand riser. These are some risers you can use, https://bhpho.to/4a7fHNh.

Q: 4. Does the gooseneck unscrew from the included clamp. If so, what kind of threading is on the end of the gooseneck? Thanks in advance for your time!

A: Yes, the gooseneck can be separated from the clamp. The manufacturer has not provided a spec for the thread size of the gooseneck since it was not intended to be used without the clamp.

Q: 5. Will the locking pin mechanism work with the Feisol QP-144750 QR Plate?

A: Yes. No problem great fit

Q: 6. Do these come filled or are they empty?

A: The Neewer Heavy-Duty Spring Clamp and Sandbag Kit (Set of 6) bags come empty.

Q: 7. Was this called the Joe McNally Clamp at one point?

A: Yes,it was. I have for of them. The flash shoe is not the best quality, you can unscrew it and have a different flash bracket on

Q: 8. Will this work with Peak Design arcs plate for capture?

A: Yes it will.

Q: 9. Does this kit include the 492 model ball head?

A: Yes it does. My advice though is to Loctite the thread that secures the ball head as they can detach relatively easily.

Q: 10. Will the small clip around a c stand boom arm to hold a sheet of paper? I have some metal ones but they are too heavy.

A: This will work for you.

Only thing I can say is you need this one if you use off camera flash a lot. The clamp will let to mount your flash on back of a chair, tree and where ever a clamp can grip.

This is a fine multi-purpose clamp inveneted by a mechanical genious for a well-known pro-photgrapher. It attaches readily to light stands, or to almost anything that is not fragile. It will crush fragile items in its powerful jaws.

Good structure and great for situations where we need to improvise. Use for various situations such as: - Hold a Speed Flash 508ex2 - Hold a Go Pro among other options

A must have for any speedliter. Perfect for those who are working in the field but certainly comes in handy within the comforts and luxuries of a studio. Man grotto has priced this simple metal product too high, in my opinion. Nevertheless, I have purchased two. I prefer to stick with the pros and accept no imitations. Ball head works wonderfully.be sure to buy 175f-1 newer issue than 175F....different ballheads

Primarily, I use this with a strobe stand to light my background. It can be attached to just about anything that fits the clamp opening - that makes it convenient to use just about anyplace that I need to use it. I really did not realize just how useful this clamp is until I used it. The shoe housing and mechanism are not metal. However, these parts seem to be very sturdy - the entire clamp is very light weight but it is very sturdy.

Does everything it supposed to do. Great for off-camera flash or remote lighting. Slightly bulky but solid construction with a firm grip.

Good solid clamp - I use it to mount my Tascam DR-40 digital recorder to my tripod (also using a 1/4 to hot shoe adapter). Works a treat

This is the third Justin Spring Clamp that I've bought, because it's a great tool for shooting with off-camera flash on location. The unusual nature of my flash subjects requires that my gear be highly portable, which the Justins are. In a sense, one Justin clamp can substitute for a lightstand, a micro ballhead, and a cold shoe, since you can attach a number of them to one light stand if you're short on stands (provided that you weight the stand sufficiently with sand bags or something similar). One of my favorite pieces of gear for working with PocketWizard Flexes and Speedlites is the Manfrotto Micro Ballhead, which you can place on top of a lightstand and then position your flash in any direction or way that you want. The Justin clamps go them one better, if you're shooting say, with five or more Speedlites, as I often do. You can attach any number of Justin clamps to one light stand (provided you weight the stand), and then combine the power of however many flash units by turning them in the same direction, or turn them in different directions for more coverage and varied intensities of light. The cold shoes are well-designed to hold your Flex or Speedlite securely, and the clamp is strong enough to attach securely to a light stand or tripod or any number of other types of objects, while not being so strong that you would have trouble opening their jaws. As is usual with Manfrotto, the build and design of the product is first-rate.
