Works well to stand on - for photographing large crowd, or sitting on to photograph young children. For sitting, it even comes with a cushion that you can put on and take off. Works very easy to open and close, and takes very little space when closed (and even when open - compared to ladder etc.). Ingenious and simple system of opening and closing.
Some have commentated or asked about stability. It's not exactly as standing on a 6' A-frame ladder, or on a solid metal construction four-legged chair. I would compare it to standing on a folding chair; you'll feel some flex, but you really do get a firm platform, and, as long as you step up and down firmly and in the center (not too close to the edge), you'll be fine.

Much more comfortable than my toilet seat. This portable seat supports my 280lbs weight. It opens & folds with a simple twist. It's shaped like a mine ready to take out an army tank. Some say its shape like a portable British flask from the 1940's. No buyer's remorse here. $20 from B& H.

As the co-owner of a video production Creative Content OnDemand, I've found this collapsible stool to be invaluable to our production needs.

Pros - It's fast to set up and break down; in addition, it's easy to stow away.

Cons - It only goes up but so high.

Here's the deal: This is a sturdy, well-built collapsible stool that you can throw in a gear bag and use anytime you need. It's basically an apple box, except that it's the size of a film canister. I use it to monitor low camera positions for interviews, or as an extra lunch seat, or an laptop stand...honestly, so many uses. Buy one of these. They're so rad. Everyone on set will instantly be jealous.

When I saw this I knew it was perfect. The stool is great for sitting at a spot with your camera and watching the wildlife. It is also good for putting in a kayak hatch and using it to sit on the beach etc. Comfy seat that adjusts to different heights.

I've ready so many reviews of this product and couldn't believe some of them complaining that it collapses. The ONLY way it will collapse, if indeed you are under the weight limit, is completely by user error. Yes, this thing is plastic, but sort of an engineering anomaly. If you treat it like a metal folding chair or an apple box, yes you will get hurt. Treat it for what it is.... a convenient collapsable plastic sitting surface. NOT meant to twist on. If you look how it's made the first thing you would recognize is that twisting it WILL COLLAPSE IT.

That being said, if you treat it like the convenient-but-somewhat-precarious piece that it is, as a sitting surface or TV tray, or drink surface or whatever you want, IT WORKS GREAT! It collapses down to almost nothing. Keep it under your car seat and it's handy for practically anything.

These things are great! Small and compact for travel, expands to just the right height (for me anyway) to be comfortable.
