The Impact Convertible Boom Arm/Light Stand can support a small or medium light head to a height of 13'. Raise the second section completely, click, and it is a boom stand. As a boom, it can hold a small light head to an extension of almost 3' from the center of the stand.

It is a reflector holder by means of its two clips, which can support an Impact, Flexfill, or Photoflex light disc as large as 60".

A hole at the end of the arm allows an optional counterweight to be hung, for greater stability.

Loosen the large long handle in the middle of the stand.
Loosen the top-most section of the stand. Pull that section all the way up.
Pull! Swing it horizontally for the boom feature, and lock it for the desired setup.

Q: 1. Simple question not given in specs: How long is the boom arm?

A: The total length of the boom arm is 51 1/2 inches.It is kind of odd that this info is not in the specs. Good question.

Q: 2. There sint any instructions, How do I make this stand go Horizontal ?

A: There is a small rounded knob just next to the ratchet handle which you would need to loosen first. Next, you would pull the arm which has the reflector clips on it straight up until you can see the end of the arm. Lastly, you need to tilt the arm to your left or right (depending on which orientation you are standing in) and lock down the same knob mentioned earlier.

Q: 3. If attaching a speedlite, will an accessory be necessary?

A: The end of the boom has a standard 5/8 light stand stud with a 1/4 screw. If you want to attach a speedlight, you will need to first attach something to the stud or 1/4 screw. The most common products for this is are a radio receiver, a cold shoe or a long off camera flash cable. Whichever you use, check to be sure it has a 1/4 tap for attaching to the 1/4' screw.

Q: 6. How does this hold the reflector? I don't see any clamps in the photo.

A: The holder has two 'wings' that you can see in the photo - one at the top and the other at the bottom. Using your fingers, simply grab these two wings and pull them to the center post. This opens up the 'clamp' into which you insert the rim of the reflector -- then let go of the wings with your finger and boom - a nice tight grip on the reflector. I have the holder mounted on a tripod that I had been using for a strobe. It works very well - sturdy.

Q: 7. Can you take out the clip from the end and put it on the other end of the boom arm? I am trying to put a reflector so that the weight is equally balanced on both sides - specially when I do not need to extend it.

A: The Integral Reflector Clip on the Impact Multiboom Light Stand is able to slide up and down the length of the boom arm, but is not designed to be removed and attached to the opposite end of the boom arm. However, do note that there is a hole on the tail end of the boom onto which you may connect a counterbalance weight to offset any weight difference.

This boom is REAL nice. All contained in one device it is a stand or a boom. I would highly recommend this stand for all of the uses.. Only thing is with the minimum height being pretty long this is not as compact as I would have wanted. It is semi-portable.. 5

This stand was better than expected. The legs spread very wide which makes it quite stable with a 42 reflector, even without using a counter balance. It meets my needs admirably and with minimal cost. 5

This stand is sturdier than I had expected for the price. I use it with a small hair light at a ten foot height. Counter balance is required but it supports the weight just fine. Great stand for the budget minded photographer. 5

I used only once during a photoshoot and it produced great light. I used both silver and gold and the effect was nice. A must have item. Better than the flash if the sun is out there. 5

This stand is very versatile. It's light weight and also light duty. Will hold a reflector with no problems. It comes with 2 clamps long the pole so you can mount it at the very end or the middle without having to move the clamp. The bad side is its also very light duty. With the boom extended, It will barely hold a flash mount, Nikon SB-800 flash and pocket wizard unit without wanting to tip over. You will need a sandbag to anchor the base, but the boom is also light duty and it will bow just a bit trying to hold it up. For the price, i will keep it but will eventually get something more heavy duty. If you plan on mounting a light to the boom, dont buy this. 5
