With a wide angle of view and generous eye relief, the Alpine Astronomical Baader Hyperion 68° 24mm Astronomical Eyepiece delivers the performance that avid amateur astronomers demand for viewing and imaging. Engineered with an 8-element/5-group lens design, the eyepiece features Baader's proprietary 7-layer broadband multi-coatings to maximize light transmission across the entire visual spectrum with true color rendition and without the green tint and halos common in many astronomical eyepieces.

Baader made this eyepiece with a unique modular design that allows it to fit into standard 1.25" holders and accessories with the ability to remove the primary snout and have it fit into larger 2" holders. Since one of the lens groups is in the 1.25" snout, when it is removed it changes the focal length without changing the brightness or long 17mm eye relief. The focal length can also be changed through the use of compatible filters—allowing you to customize the magnification yield based on your optical tube assembly and need.

The eyepiece comes with a fold-down rubber eyecup for use with or without eyewear, and the eyecup can be completely removed to reveal a set of two threads. These M43 and M54 threads allow T-rings and other adapters to be mounted for direct connection of imaging systems for afocal and projection astrophotography techniques. This model is parfocal with all other Hyperion eyepieces except the 24mm version, which means there is little to no need to refocus when changing eyepieces within the Hyperion line.

Q: 1. Do these filters come with a case?

A: Each filter comes in a plastic case

Q: 2. This zoom eyepiece is 3 times the price of Celestron's zoom. Is it worth that difference in cost?

A: It has much higher optical quality due to the -Phantom Coating Group Multi-Coatings and 7-Element/4-Group Flat-Field Lens Design

Q: 3. What is the outer housing diameter of this piece?? I need it to fit inside the 1.25" Orion Variable Universal Camera Adapter. So this eyepiece needs to have an outside diameter of less than 38.3mm.

A: The outer housing diameter of this eyepiece is listed at 101.5 mm so it would not fit.

Q: 4. Is this eyepiece waterproof?

A: The Alpine Astronomical Baader Hyperion 8-24mm Mark IV Zoom Eyepiece (1.25"/2") BH #ALHYPZOOM • MFR #HYP-ZOOM is not waterproof.

Q: 5. Is this eyepiece barrel 1.25/2" or only 1.25" ?

A: The Alpine Astronomical Baader Hyperion 68° 10mm Astronomical Eyepiece (1.25"/2"), will work both with 1.25" and 2" holders." (We can see in the Overview it is explained-This eyepiece with a unique modular design that allows it to fit into standard 1.25" holders and accessories with the ability to remove the primary snout and have it fit into larger 2" holders as well.)

Q: 6. Can I use the T-mount adapter shown in "Recimmended Accessories" to shoot through this eyepiece with my D-SLR? I already have one, and a Nikon F-mount adapter. Can I just screw it to the threads on the viewing end of the eyepiece, then attach my D-SLR via my Nikon adapter, or do I need to get a special connector?

A: You need this adapter to attach a T mount adapter, Alpine Astronomical Baader Hyperion M43/T-2 T-Adapter BH #ALHTA43T2 • MFR #HTA43/T2 https://bhpho.to/30q8Ltq

Q: 7. Does this work for visual astronomy also, or is it more designed for astrophotography?

A: Yes, this can be used as a conventional Barlow for viewing.

Q: 8. With the Barlow attached, this effectively goes between 3.5mm - 10mm, right?

A: With a 2X barlow correct

Q: 9. Is this filters that make planets less bright?

A: The Alpine Astronomical Baader 3.0 Neutral Density Filter is used to reduce the amount of light coming into your eye during lunar observation and improve the view and contrast. It is not made for planetary use.

Q: 10. what does focal length of 21mm eyepiece become when the snout is removed?

A: The Alpine Astronomical Baader Hyperion 68° 21mm Astronomical Eyepiece (1.25"/2") would become 32.2mm with the snout removed.
