With an exceptional field of view and long eye relief, the Alpine Astronomical Baader 72° Hyperion 31mm Aspheric Eyepiece produces relatively low magnifications on most telescopes, making it ideal for detailed lunar and planetary viewing or wide-field deep sky observations, plus astrophotography. Its 72° field of view offers a viewing angle that is wider than the human eye, but not so wide that contrast and image brightness are compromised.

The eyepiece lens is made with a unique 6-element/4-group aspheric configuration to virtually eliminate spherical aberration, astigmatism, "kidney beaning," and other optical distortions. Phantom Coating Group multi-coatings, blackened lens edges, and internal baffling deliver bright and high-contrast views that are free of scattered and diffracted light. It comes with two barrel sleeves that allow it to fit into 1.25" and 2" drawtubes and accessories. When using the 1.25" barrel, the field of view is reduced to 55 degrees.
