The Blackmagic Design MultiView 4 HD is a compact mini-converter that enables you to display up to four separate SDI streams via its HDMI or 10-bit SDI multiview outputs. This unit supports SD/HD/3G-SDI formats, and features automatic signal detection, SDI re-clocking, and monitor EDID support.

Each view can display custom overlays like labels and audio meters, and the integrated USB 2.0 interface can be used for updates. The MultiView 4 HD's metal housing measures approximately 5.3 x 3.6", and it includes a power supply with international adapters.

Q: 2. Wanting to use this for Livestreaming purposes with OBS. Does this give the option for me to grab each image separately and overlay it for one image for livestreaming purposes? Thanks

A: The Blackmagic Design MultiView 4 offers SDI loop output. If you have the ability to capture SDI with your computer you can use those sources as OBS allows.

Q: 3. From my research the answer is a no, but can it take 2 inputs and flip the monitor vertically to fill the screens? Meaning, if I use only 2 camera inputs and use the monitor like iPad, can it show 2 inputs top and bottom with maximizing screen real estate?

A: Unfortunately no, the multiview layout is a 2x2 grid and is not alterable.

Q: 4. can the sdi/hdmi multiview outputs display progressive frames in 1920x1080 or only interlaced? it looks like it can do progressive in 4k but not in 1080 based on the dip switches unless im misinterpreting them.

Q: 5. Do all of the inputs need to be the same video format? I see it supports 1080p60 but will it accept a mix of 1080p60 and 1080p30 on the inputs?

A: No, each input is independent. We have several different resolutions coming into ours. From Blackmagic's website: "You get full frame re‑synchronization on all SDI inputs, which means that they can be any video standard and frame rate, and each input is completely independent of the others."

Q: 6. Is the Fan as loud as other BM devices ?i need quiet fan on set

A: The fans in the Teranex mini products are quieter than many of the rack mount products, but there is a fan that must run in all the minis. So I would say it's not as loud.

Q: 7. Does this allow you to do custom layouts? For instance if I'm only using 2 inputs, can I make input 1 full screen and input 2 in the lower right corner?I'm also looking at the DECIMATOR DMON-QUAD 4-Channel 3G-SDI Multiviewer which has custom layouts, but also costs $100 more.

A: No. There is only 4x4 output.

Q: 8. Can you set the SDI/HDMI output frame rate and resolution?

A: The Blackmagic Design Multiview 4 can be set to Ultra HD or HD output at either 29.97 or 25 frames per second. Use the video format setting to cycle through the available resolution and frame rate options.

Q: 9. Hi, i have the BM ultra studio hd to capture live on set through my laptop, could i vision switch between 2 live cameras quickly with the multiview 4? Ie : swap between A and B camera during a take and record on my laptop via the ultra studio?Thanks!

A: The Multiview would not make a good Switcher in this case. It was not designed for that purpose.

Q: 10. I know it's not for this, but has anyone tried putting a quad 4k signal into this?

A: If you feed it a 4K UHD quad-link SDI signal (square division), it will display the 4 images as 1. However, since it's not designed for that there may be tearing in the video.
