Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. What kind of mic mount does this take?

A: The MS-5230T features a 5/8 threading compatible with most standard mic clips and mounts.

Q: 2. is 33.9" the max length the arm can extend from the center of the stand, or is that the max length from end to end of the boom arm?

A: The max length of boom end to end is 33.9"

Q: 3. Folded into its smallest configuration, is the overall length greater than 19"?

A: The Auray MS-5230T's minimum height is 36.2 inches.

Q: 4. how much weight can it support ?would like to use a wescott strobe with it

A: The Auray MS-5230T Tripod Microphone Stand with Telescoping Boom will not work to support the weight of a Westcott Strobe Light. This stand is intended for use with lighter weight microphones and you will want to use a tripod stand with legs that are configured more like those on a camera-style tripod, not legs that lay flat against the floor.

Q: 5. Will I need an adapter to attach a pistol grip with a 3/8"-16 female threading?

A: Yes you will, here's an option B&H # ONMA100.

Q: 6. Does B&H sell additional removable/replacement studs for the Gravity MS QC 1B?

A: No, the individual, proprietary components that make up the Gravity Stands MS QC 1 B Quick Coupler for Microphone Clips and Boom Arms are not available separately. Thread adapter replacements can be found, however.

Q: 7. Can you remove the boom arm? If so, what threading is used to attach it?

A: The Auray MS-5230T uses 5/8'' threading.

Q: 8. How much weight can this hold?

A: The manufacturer has not specified the weight capacity that the Gravity Stands Traveler 3D Arm can support. It is intended for use with lightweight accessories such as an action camera, smartphone, tablet, microphone, or light.

Q: 9. Does the legs can unscrew and disconnect? I want to connect table clamp to it

A: No, the legs on the Auray MS-65CL Professional Mic Stand do not unscrew and disconnect. Perhaps you may want to check out the Auray Telescoping Boom Arm Mic Stand with Table Clamp Mount (B&H # AUMSDTCL32) for a mic stand with a boom arm and table clamp.

Q: 10. Do I need an adaptor to attach a Shure MV7 microphone to this mic stand?

A: No. You just unscrew the included mic clip and screw on the MV7.

Picked this up on a flash deal. Super impressed with the heft and build quality of this stand.

I was like...Ok... It's a Mic Stand...looking at the pictures, you'd think its just a mic stand like the old bunch...

when Fedex dropped it off, I saw him holding the package with two hands. This thing weighs almost as much as a Manfrotto DSLR Tripod. And you DO WANT heavy, because it gives you stability and durability to even hold a RODE BLIMP system on it if you feel so inclined...

The provided Mic holder is a clamp type, secures the mic well. If you want to install a shock mount that came with your Condenser Mic, simply swap it. The threads are the same normal universal standards you see on every stand. Any mic can be used, and at any height, angle.

Everything in this stand is made of METAL, INCLUDING the knob that raises the stand, except the Boom part tightening knob, which they are made of a very strong ABS plastic. There's NO WAY you'll be breaking those, especially the MAIN plastic locking knob from the Boom part. This stand also comes provided with 2 cable clips, one at the Boom arm at the thinnest part, the other at the lower tube base pole for cable neatness. Those plastic cable clips though, you have to be gentle with when snapping them off.If they ever broke, you can get a set of 6 at BH for only 8 bucks. Size pole is between 7/8 - 1.
My assistants always break a bunch of them and I never worry since they cost almost nothing.

The stand is pretty! It has a nice and elegant matte finish and when raising / adjusting the poles multiple times, it doesn't scratch the pole paint finish (as long as you keep it clean, free of dust, debris or sand).

The rubber feet is very nice and won't let it slide.

What else could we want for a Mic Stand besides durability, pretty, and stable? This product has all check marks.

Very well-built! Very limited plastic parts but otherwise solid metal structure coursing through its veins.

I can't see it having any durability issues.

Highly recommended!

This mic stand is well-built, solid, heavy, and great all around. One of the reasons why I chose this product over others was because the telescoping arm extends to 46, which is longer than anything else I looked at. I recommend this product overall.

I use this mic stand at home to either hold a Rode boom mic or to attach a smartphone for overhead filming. The long reach of the boom arm offers me a lot of flexibility with the latter. If you are thinking of using this stand for overhead filming with something heavier than a smartphone, note that I don't think the boom arm would hold up a heavy DSRL very well, but a small, light mirror-less camera would likely be OK (though you would likely see bowing of the arm if you have the boom arm fully extended).

Metal! Only a couple plastic pieces but this thing is stable. Boom arm is nice and long. Recommended!
