The Canon CN-E 20mm T1.5 L F Cinema Prime Lens is a manual focus prime lens that covers Full Frame and Super 35 sensor formats. The lens offers a maximum aperture of T1.5, useful when shooting in low light situations or when you want to capture that exceedingly shallow depth of field look. It has an 11-blade iris that provides round, out-of-focus highlights for a natural looking bokeh. The lens barrel features 300° of stepless, smooth rotation from close focus to infinity, giving you a high degree of precision and consistent focus.

The lens features standard cine lens gears and is designed to minimize focus breathing and also has innovative glass construction that counteracts barrel expansion and contraction to avoid temperature-induced marking discrepancies. It's dual focus, with markings on both sides of the barrel. The rear markings are on an angled surface, making it readable form either side of the camera. It also has a dust- and water-resistant housing to minimize maintenance during normal use.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Is the 35mm a full frame measurement of for the super35 sensor?

A: It will work on a super35 or full frame sensor. True 35mm on a full frame. Will look like a 52mm on a super35.

Q: 2. Will this lens work on a Canon crop sensor 60D?

A: Yes. It will work on any full frame or aps-c canon camera.

Q: 3. would you recommend the cannon cn-e 35mm lens on a Blackmagic URSA Mini 4K EF camera?

Q: 4. Does this have a front thread? Is so what size?

A: This has a 105mm filter thread.

Q: 5. Are there any 114 uv protection filter for this lens?

A: You can use 105mm screw in filters on all the Canon Cinema Prime Lenses. Here are three suggestions in good-better-best order: Tiffen 105mm Coarse Thread UV Protector Filter B&H # TIUVP105, B+W 105mm UV Haze MRC 010M Filter B&H # BWUVMC105, Sigma 105mm WR UV Filter B&H # SIUV105Q.

Q: 6. what is the filter size for screw on nd filters? thanks!

A: Canon's CN-E lenses do not have a filter thread on them. However you can use Schneider's 114mm SSLR to 4.5 Adapter Ring to put ND filters directly on the lens. They even make a kit that comes with the adapter and three ND Filters, B&H # SCCNDK.https://bhpho.to/2yCxRpi

A: Both Canon and Sigma Prime lenses will offer fantastic images.

Q: 9. which one is better, this lens or Rokinon Xeen 16mm T2.6?

Q: 10. Is the mount on this lens interchangeable? From PL to Sony E for example

A: yes but the only available mounts are EF or PL mount. the E-mount flange depth is too shallow for amount change you will need and E mount to PL mount adapter on any E mount camera

Combination of the new C200 and this lens is perfect for my run-n-gun film work. Lots of cine lenses out there, but not very many with the same features. Rented this lens to try it out. Used my 18-135 afterward and really felt and saw the difference in footage. Only one issue... At full-wide 18mm - sometimes the image stabilization will cause the lens hood to be visible in frame! So, might want to think about matte-box or taking off the lens hood for those circumstances.

Since we bought these CN-E lenses I did a double take at our cameras to really make sure I was seeing with I saw. My supervisor was nervous now being in camera knowing that you can see every detail inside even our original C100. We have always shot with Canon L series glass but the CN-E line really opened our eyes to true quality. Worth the money and then some.

This is an excellent lens to really enable your C300 II to serve as both a beautiful cinema camera as well as an excellent run and gun ENG camera. Period. Parfocal is flawless. Quality of the output is stunning.

If on the other hand, you like lugging around a backpack or rolling case with a bunch of lenses, and your sound capturing devices then just keep that workflow. Hopefully, you have everything properly set up and dialed in before your subject either slithers away or the moment or action is over.

And, if you look at the sweet spot for all of your fast lenses, is it really f/1.7-2.8? Seriously doubt it. The shallow depth of field for the T4.4 is beautiful.

If the price is too high for you, then simple. Don't buy it.

I use this lens for short films and it is great for just that. The zoom range is perfect on a s35 and its very quiet. This lens works very well on any of the C series cameras, we use it on the C100 and its great. The servo zoom is a great feature to have if you need to creep the focus in on a subject really slowly or fast. The t4.4 is comparable to f/4 and in my experience about 1/5 of a stop brighter, depending on the lens. I have yet to use its gears for follow focus, but I imagine that will be nice to use. The IS seems to be a little different than the EF still lenses, but I have no knowledge on this other than it appears to be geared toward video and smooths out the IS correction, whereas still lenses would make hard adjustments on occasion. This lens never leaves our Bcam because of the flexibility of the lens and the great image it produces, clean nuetral colors, sharp image and smooth Beaukeh (Bokeh). If you have 5G's and shoot primarily short films, and docs, this lens is well worth it.

It's a fantastic lens which I use with my Canon c70 along with the adapter. Be sure that if you use the adapter that gives you an additional stop that you will get vignetting. The negative is that the servo is pretty loud if zooming quickly.
