Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. I was wondering if this would work with the ATW-R3100b receiver?

A: The Audio-Technica ATM610a/S requires a cable to operate. This mic has no wireless capability built in. The Audio Technica 3000 series requires a wireless handheld transmitter such as the ATW-T371b. Available in multiple frequencies to match 3000 series receivers currently available. Please see the following link: http://bhpho.to/1hyrOYU

Q: 2. does this require phantom power?

A: It does not. The microphone is dynamic.

Q: 3. How do I set up Audio-Technica BPHS1 with Rodecaster Pro and a Mac for Zoom calls?

A: The BPHS1 broadcast headset has separate connectors for the microphone and headphones. The XLR connector is the microphone, so that would connect to an XLR microphone input on the RodeCaster Pro while the 1/4" connector from the BPHS1 connects to a headphone output on the RodeCaster Pro. The RodeCaster Pro then connects to your computer via USB.

Q: 4. I wanted to use this headset to dictate to a computer while listening to output audio. From the connectors, I am not sure it will work. I have an andrea pure audio external sound card with two inputs for headset and mic. How would that work with this product?

A: It is not made to use with a computer. This is a professional broadcast headset for broadcasting sporting events and this type of thing. It has 2 connectors on it one XLR and one neither one is available on a computer. It is normally plugged into a broadcast console that has the ability to accept both types of connectors. I would check with computers where they will have headsets for computers that will have these same functions. Only they are purpose built for computers.

Q: 5. How is ambient noise pickup on the Mic? I would like to use this for a Live Broadcast in a very noisy environment and would not like to pickup the ambient noise.

A: The Audio-Technica BPHS1 Broadcast Stereo Headset can be used in a noisy environment. The attached dynamic microphone features a cardioid (directional) pickup pattern which focuses on the user's voice and rejects off-axis sounds so it should not pickup ambient noise.

Q: 6. Hello, can I use this headset for recording songs as a singer using either an Android cellphone or an iPad? Thank you in advance.

A: This headset will not connect to a mobile phone.

Q: 7. How does this compare to the Beyerdynamics DT297 headset? I've used the 297s for years but it's time to replace or update.

A: The Audio-Technica Broadcast Stereo Headset with Cardioid Condenser Boom Microphone (BH # AUBPHS2C) should compare very well to the Beyerdynamic DT297 headset in actual use depending upon the device it is connected to. NOTE: The Audio-Technica BPHS2C impedance is only 38 ohms.

Q: 8. Help! I want to connect my BPHS to my MacBook pro for Zoom meetings. What do I need to get the microphone in and the earphones out? Do I need a pre-amplifier?

A: The broadcast headset should be used with an audio interface, such as the Focusrite Scarlett Solo 2x2 USB Audio Interface (3rd Generation), B&H # FOSCARSOLO3G. The audio interface would have a mic-pre-amp to accept the male XLR mic output from the headset, and a headphone output for the 1/4-inch stereo connector.

Q: 9. Any perspective on if this might make a good podcast headset? I'm considering pairing it with my RODECaster Pro for mobile podcast production. I'm thinking it would be simple to have mic and headshet cabling integrated (as opposed to mic stand, headphones and cable, mic and cable). Is audio quality solid?

A: This is a good choice for a podcast. It is actually a broadcast quality headset with full frequency response in both the headphone and mic.

Q: 10. Do these mics need phantom power? I didn't think so, but it won't work with our passive unpowered phone hybrids.

A: Just as Henry H. explained, the mic on the headset is dynamic, so it ould not require phantom power. I use my headset with a small Behringer mixer with phantom power turned off and it works fine. You probably have tried this, but I would suggest making sure your trim and/or gain is turned up because I have found that some mixers resist the signal significantly more than others.I would also suggest listening back with another headset or loudspeaker that you know will work just in case there is a headphone out setting or bad output you are unaware of.

Have come back for More Headsets. Our Announcers like the fit of the ear pieces and reduced ambient sound. I appreciate the replaceable cord. Packs well for us and works great for our Broadcasts.

Excellent audio both headphone and mike. Only one thing bothers me is the connector, I keep rubbing my shoulder on it. They should have brought it out at a different angle or shortened the plug. Otherwise it is an excellent headset.
