SkyMasters are economically priced large-aperture binoculars from Celestron. They're great for both astronomy and long-range terrestrial observing. The tripod adapter on the enormous 25x100 model provides support and increased rigidity. But be aware that these gargantuan lenses require an enormously strong tripod. The recommended tripod and head combinations listed as accessories here are not overkill for the application; actually, they are spot on. Slap this wonderful instrument upon an ultrabeefy tripod/head combo, and be amazed.

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I see the rings of saturn and the bands on jupiter with 20x80?

A: Absolutely. A 20x power binocular will easily show the rings of Saturn and bands of Jupiter along with moons of Jupiter. These are excellent binoculars also for viewing many other objects in the night sky.

Q: 2. is the Skymaster binocular kit new?

A: Yes, the Celestron 25x100 SkyMaster Binoculars Kit is new and includes the original warranties and accessories shipped from the manufacturer.

Q: 3. Are the optics on this binocular glass or plastic?

A: Great binoculars, feels like glass, but not sure. You'd be better googling it or asking the supplier sorry.

Q: 4. I have a Celestron 25x100 binocular that came with a Celestron Alt-Azimuth tripod Model 93607 but they don't seem to mate very well and the tripod does not elevate more than a few degrees above hrozontal. Do I have the wrong tripod?

A: I have the same binoculars and tripod. The mating to the tripod is very solid; no problem at all. Perhaps you've sorted that out by now. The range of elevation angles is somewhat limited from what I'd prefer. It's about plus/minus 20 degrees. However, anything more could make it very awkward to sight through the binoculars.

Q: 5. Does it come with azimuth and elevation readings?

A: The Celestron 25x100 SkyMaster Binoculars BH #CE25X100SM • MFR #71017 dose not have azimuth and elevation readings.

Q: 6. can this be mounted on a photographic tripod?

A: Yes as long as the Tripod has a 1/4"-20 (Head), and has a Load Capacity higher than 48 oz / 1.36 kg it will Mount.

Q: 7. Has anyone had the problem with the Celeston 15x70 Skymaster not being collomated? I saw the procedure on youtube and it does not look easy to do. I really don't want to go through this hassle.

A: Yes, I have this issue. I tired adjusting per the video with unsatisfactory results; I still have a second ghost image. I've used these to observe a model airplane stuck in a tree only. These are not for serious viewing.

Q: 8. can you screw in a t-adapter into the ocular to attach a camera to?

A: No you cannot screw in a T-adapter into the Celestron 20x80 SkyMaster Binoculars BH #CE20X80SM • MFR #71018

Q: 9. Everyone is saying that these binoculars are really heavy, however its only 1.5 kg. Does it become very uncomfortable for a binocular, or is there add on weight?

A: I dont consider binoculars heavy. I normally have them mounted on tripod. When not the little extra weight helps steady them. Good buy for the money. I have recommended to a couple friends.

Q: 10. Do these come with a hard case?

A: No, the SkyMaster 20x80 comes with a soft case. Sincerely, Garrett at Celestron

Nice quality, very powerful. Yes, as the other ratings say, you WILL need a tripod, but that is what you get when you buy a serious set of binoculars. Amazing value!!

As i live on a city with light polution, these marvelous binoculars help me to see the stars, constelations and globular clusters, that's impossible without it, even the 4 Jupiter satelites. But, be aware that's need a tripod, because of the weight.

These 25x100 Celestrons are hefty enough for any binocular to be without some kind of highly specialized mount, one that exceeds the 9+ pounds rated one included in the package deal that B&H is offering. They exhibit little to no comatic aberration, provide pinpoint stellar imagery, peer quite deeply into extra-galactic objects as well.

Their telephone agent in fact quite rightly recommended that instead I order the Magnus VT-350, which was not only on sale, but can more easily manage the considerable heft of the 25x100s. An excellent choice! It is a very sturdy platform for the ginormous unit, coming with all the bells and whistles one would expect from a formidable piece of equipment, and will also easily accommodate my 20x80s, or for that matter, anything else I'd like to mount on it.

But more importantly, the 25x100s are one of the finest binoculars I own (and I own an embarrassing number)...

The bin, I must say, is a deep sky marvel, if you're at a dark sight (practically required). This tripod I don't believe is rated for over 10lbs, which is necessarily a requirement in my opinion. The phone agent at B&H suggested I get instead a Magnus VT-350, and I'm happy to report that two are seemingly married to one another. Still, I find it difficult to snap the plate, having first been attached it to the rail, onto the tripod. I suspect, however, this is due primarily to the beefiness of the binocular (quite substantial), and no fault of the setup. And also to the fact that I've only practiced it once...

I purchased my Celestron 25 x 100 binoculars from B &H and mounted them on a tripod rated for 10 lbs. I use them for astronomy and can see ORION and the Horsehead nebula very well as well as the moons that orbit Jupiter and the rings around Saturn. I also was able to use them to observe the comet PANSTARRS with great clarity. I very impressed with the optics as I also have a pair of FUJINON 16x70 and these Celestron are just as good. For the money I don't think you can go wrong and Celestron stands behind their products. I would recommend them highly.

When I got these, packed in two, not one, cases, I immediately set them up, with some difficulty, on the excellent Magnus VT-350 tripod that was quite properly recommended by the agent on the phone. Looking at a distant lightpole in front of a bright sky, I was struck by not only by the clarity of the detail (IF is great!), but also by the disparity of chromatic aberration. I planned on taking them out to the next scheduled star party with my Astronomical Society, to wow them a bit perhaps, but luck would have it, we were clouded out.
Anyway, I would not hesitate to persuade anyone to save big bucks by going ahead with these first and in the unlikely event you are not blown away, then empty your wallet for a more munificent product. Going that far is not something I readily do, but there you have it!
Clear skies and good luck for all of us seemingly cornered into this niche of observational obsessing...
