As one of their flagship optics, the 12x50 Konusrex Binoculars from Konus offer the performance required for birdwatchers, hunters, hikers, and avid outdoor enthusiasts.

Outfitted with a high magnification and large objectives, these binoculars are ideal for making detailed observations of distant subjects (without the dimming that is often associated with long-distance viewing) or when peering into heavy brush and dense canopies. The BAK4 roof prisms are phase corrected and treated with silver mirror finishes on the reflective surfaces. These work together to limit internal light loss and interference for improved clarity and contrast. Anti-reflection fully multi-coated lenses maximize light transmission for improved brightness, resolution, and color rendition.

Complementing the optical performance are design and construction details that make the binoculars easy to hold and capable of withstanding the elements. The dual-hinge/open-bridge construction provides added gripping surface area while reducing the overall weight without sacrificing strength or stability. Ergonomic and slip-resistant armoring with raised ridges provides a sure and positive grip. The optical tubes are nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and resistant to internal fogging if the weather turns or the binoculars take an accidental spill in a stream or puddle. For extended use, or to limit vibrations and arm fatigue, the Konusrex binoculars are tripod mountable using an optional adapter.

  • Powerful 12x magnification enables detailed observations of distant subjects
  • Large 50mm objective lenses help to maintain image brightness without the dimming that is often associated with long-range viewing with high-power optics
  • Compact roof prism optical path keeps the optical tubes narrow despite the large objectives for easier handling
  • BAK4 prism glass delivers a round exit pupil and a crisp and clear image with limited edge distortion
  • Phase-correcting prism coatings eliminate internal interference to improve clarity and contrast
  • Highly reflective silver mirror coating on prism surfaces improve light transmission to maintain brightness and contrast
  • Anti-reflection fully multi-coated optics maximize light transmission through lenses for bright and clear high-contrast views with accurate color representation
  • 59° apparent angle of view approaches wide-angle to help minimize the appearance of the distracting hand shake that is common when holding high-power optics while offering an immersive observational experience
  • Spacious 259' field of view at 1000 yards

  • Open-bridge/dual-hinge configuration provides enhanced gripping surface area for more secure handling
  • Large slip-resistant center focusing wheel is easy to manipulate in cold and wet weather, or while wearing gloves
  • Right-eye dioptric correction allows for precise focusing even for those who normally require corrective eyewear
  • Twist-up rubber eyecups for comfortable use with or without eyewear or sunglasses
  • Tripod mountable with optional adapter enables hands-free use to reduce arm fatigue and vibration
  • Long eye relief improves viewing comfort during long-duration glassing sessions with reduced eyestrain
  • Comfortable 4.2mm exit pupil will cover most pupils as they open and dilate in low light to maintain full views without vignetting

  • Bridge design helps to reduce overall weight without sacrificing strength or stability
  • Nitrogen filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof and resistant to internal fogging when moving through extreme changes in temperature and environmental conditions
  • Protective rubber armoring with raised palm ridges provide a slip-resistant grip in cold and wet weather

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Are they waterproof?

A: The Nikon 12x50 Aculon A211 Binoculars (Black) BH #NI12X50A211 • MFR #8249 are not nitrogen purged hence they are not fog or waterproof.

Q: 2. How does the image brightness compare to the Kowa sv 12x50.. anyone know.!

A: All I can admit is that I'm unfamiliar with the Kowas; but the 12x50 Prostaff 5s are extraordinary to be sure, in image and an amazing close focus.

Q: 3. How far out do the bullet drop system work? On the new model 10x42 the inclinometer system only works out to 600 yards.

A: The Ultravid model does not have a built-in rangefinder. Only the Geovid model has that. A Geovid HD-R can do calculations for a range of 10-600 yards and provide an adjusted horizontal distance measurement (what we call EHr). Thats usually a good range for bow hunters. The Geovid HD-B can do calculations for a range of 100-875 yards (or out to 1000 yds. by using the included micro SD card to load a custom calculation through our website), and can provide the above mentioned EHr value, or a Hold value, or the number of click adjustments to make on a riflescope. This model is better for the rifle hunter.

Q: 4. How far out can you see from the shore looking at the ocean?

A: It's really not determined a maximum amount of distance with these binoculars. Basically it's as far as the eye can see however many times closer. This would be a good model to look at the water from a balcony, or on the beach.

Q: 5. Fog proof ?

A: The Pentax 12x50 S-Series SP Binoculars BH #PE12X50SP • MFR #65904 are not fog or waterproof.

Q: 6. What does 267' @ 1000yds mean?

A: This give you an idea of how wide an angle the view is. Looking at a scene that is at distance of 1000 yards, the field of view is 267 feed. The description of the field of view says Wide 68 Apparent Angle of View. This is a typo. 6.8 degrees is still an exaggeration but certainly not 68 degrees. I have a set of Jason Binoculars that are extra wide angle which has an apparent angle of view of 11 degrees and puts the performance at 578 feet 1000 yards. The Celestron are not wide angle at all at only 267' which works out to 5 degree angle of view.

Q: 7. Does this come with lens caps?

A: No caps

Q: 8. What is the minimum focus distance?

A: The Nikon 12x50 Aculon A211 Binoculars have a minimum focus distance of 26.2 feet.

Q: 9. Does it come with a case?

A: no, it comes with a strong vinyl pouch . if your eyes are some what apart each other ,this are not for you .

Q: 10. Is there Diopter adjustment? It was noted in one review to be stiff, but the specs say diopter adjustment was not specified by the manufacturer

A: It has a diopter adjustment. It is stiff.

My team reported that these binoculars are great for inspecting items from a distance of around 200ft. They are able to see cotter pins as small as a couple inches very clearly.
