A 138mm Light Yellow #6 Filter from Tiffen is used for a slight increase in contrast with black and white films. Although not as strong as a traditional Yellow #8, it can still be used to make a difference in your photography. You'll find it boosts your contrast just enough to make the difference between a black and white print flat appears "flat" and one that displays the proper correction.

Tiffen's ColorCore glass is produced through a process that entails permanently laminating the filter material in between two pieces of optical glass that are ground flat to tolerances of a ten-thousandth of an inch, then mounting them in precision aluminum rings.

Tiffen's ColorCore glass is sealed between two optical glass sheets. In this way, Tiffen can better control the various densities of their filters and thereby create more exact degrees of filtration. This process makes for greater accuracy of color as opposed to glass that is simply dyed and become subject to deviation during the dye process

Tiffen, a leader in the filter industry, proudly makes its filters in the USA and backs up its products with a solid 10-year warranty

Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. Can I use this filter with original lens shades? EF 70-200 2.8 & EF 24-105 for example.

A: Yes. The Tiffen 77mm ND 1.2 Filter does not interfere with the use of the manufacturer's lens hood.

Q: 2. How thick is this filter?

A: The Tiffen 4 x 4 ND 0.6 Filter is 4mm thick.

Q: 3. Hi!Can the 0.9 and 0.6 Tiffen ND filters be stacked with the B+W ND filters and circular polarizer filters?Additionally, since this Tiffen filter does not have any form of coating on it, what are the effects of that?Thank you!

A: As long as the B+W filters in question have 52mm filter threads on the front of the filter, you would ba able to attach the Tiffen 52mm 0.6 Neutral Density Filter and the Tiffen 52mm 0.9 Neutral Density Filter to the front of the filter. The main issue that may arise from the filter not having coatings would be the chance of obtaining more internal flare or glare from using the filter. However, as such, I would recommend using your lens hood to reduce the occurrence of glare or flare.

Q: 4. Does this filter work with the Lee adapters?

A: Yes, a Tiffen 4x4 filter can be used in the LEE Foundation Kit.

Q: 5. Will this filter (Tiffin 4x4 1.6 ND) fit in a Cokin holder? Buyers say it won't fit in a Lee holder and Specs don't list thikness dimensions.

A: The filter is 4mm thick. Lee filters makes filter guides that are 4mm thick. The foundation kit does not supply that guide. The link for that guide is a href= http://bhpho.to/1iXS5y5. target= _blank http://bhpho.to/1iXS5y5./a

Q: 6. Will this work on the Panasonic 20mm 1.7 lens? (lens retracts, so I'm not sure it will)

A: This lens takes a 46mm filter as per the specs on the B&H website for the lens https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/986097-REG/panasonic_h_h020ak_lumix_20mm_f1_7_ii_asph.html

Q: 7. What's the exact weight of this filter in grams? Not the package weight, but the weight of just the filter.

A: The Tiffen 37mm ND 0.9 Filter, weighs in at 40 grams.

Q: 8. does this fit the p series cokin holder which is 52 mm? Is there a higher stop nd filter up to 10 stops {like the lee big stop nd filter) in cokin, lee or tiffen that will fit my p series filter holder from cokin?

A: The Tiffen Cokin P Neutral Density (ND) 0.9 Glass Filter will fit in the Cokin P filter holder. All of the Cokin P filter holders are the same size, and accommodate any filter designed for the Cokin P system. We carry several 10-stop ND filters for the Cokin P filter holder. You can find those on the following link. http://bhpho.to/1f0KEmy

Q: 9. Why is the filter so inexpensive? Is it just the small size?

A: Price is based upon the size of the filter. 52mm is one of the smaller sizes and is thus priced less than filters for larger thread sizes.

Q: 10. I would like to use this with sony sel24f11.4gm can i still use lens hood with this attached e.g whats total diameter?

A: This filter will be no wider than your lens is. You should have no issue attaching a lens hood via bayonet or screw in methods.
