Related Questions and Answers

Q: 1. can i use this rig with an Apple iPhone XS to then connect a phone call through a mixing board for an audio podcast?

A: The JK Audio AutoHybrid is a telephone audio interface, specifically for an old-fashioned landline, and will not work with a smartphone. I would recommend the JK Audio Daptor Three Bluetooth Cell Phone Audio Interface, B&H # JKDAP3, which can be connected to your iPhone through a 3,5mm cable or Bluetooth wireless, and can be inputted into your mixer. There is also a LINE IN on the unit, so you can send the signal back to the caller. You would require a mixer with and AUX Out feature.

Q: 2. What is the best method to record digital audio (MP3) from telephone interviews using this device? Should it be connected directly to a PC or a digital recording device, like an Olympus recorder? If to PC, is there a specific software to use to record the audio input? If digital recorder is the better option, is there a recommended recorder to use? Finally, what kind of cable should be used to connect the THAT-2 device to the digital audio recording device (PC or digital recorder). Thanks!

A: I connect the THAT-2 to a digital audio recorder using a female XLR-to-male 3.5mm adapter cable (Kopul LMT-100). The 3.5mm plug goes into the mic socket of my small Olympus or the Line-In sockets of larger recorders. After recording, I copy the audio file to my computer for editing or replaying. I suppose one can recorder directly to a PC but I have not done that.Good luck.

Q: 3. does this item work with a 70 volt amplifier?

A: The AutoHybrid is a passive telephone audio interface, allowing a telephone signal to be brought into a mixing board as an audio signal, and then separating the caller and sender of the call. Typical use is radio call-in shows, podcasts and conferences.

Q: 4. Does this unit work with digital landlines? I bought a Rolls P19 Patch 11 and it does not work with my Shaw Cable landline.

A: I was going to answer this but B and H will not allow me to provide the address and phone number of the manufacturer so you're on your own, though luck.

Q: 5. will this work for sending live audio from a mixer board to a smartphone for some else to listen..to a church service for example?

A: Most likely it will not work with your mixing board. NOTE: Works with the following JK Audio products: Daptor Two, ComPack, RemoteMix Sport, RemoteMix 4, RemoteMix One, RemoteMix 3.5 and more

Q: 6. With the 4/5 pin unit, the manual mentions pinouts for an A/B channel system. How does the pack let you choose B or A to speak into?

A: You can use only one headset at a time which can be either 4-pin OR 5-pin configuration. The included 3.5mm TRRS cable allows you to connect the audio from the Outerloop 3.5 to the headphone jack on a smartphone, computer, or other compatible mobile device through unit's the 3.5mm jack. You can then use your mobile device to call into your intercom phone bridge, station phone coupler, or any phone-based intercom app.

Q: 7. I would like to use this device to make engineering test measurements of signals on the POTS phone line (noise, distortion, frequency response, etc.). Are the audio signal levels on the XLR connectors the same as one would measure on the POTS line (w/o the DC of course)? And can both directions of two-way conversation be measured with this device?

A: This information is not documented. Please contact JK Audio directly to speak to one of their support engineers:JK AudioTel: 800-552-8346Email: info@jkaudio.comWebsite: http://www.jkaudio.com/

Q: 8. Does it accept an rj45 port and do you have to contact the I.T. department to allow the device on their network?

A: The Compak does not have an RJ-45 but if you have a network phone system, keep the base of phone connected into network via the RJ-45 jack. Replace the handset from said phone with the JK Audio Compak. The Compak will now act as a handset and will require no special access because the base station phone is already connected into the network.

Q: 9. I would like to know if this unit does its own mix minus. I intend to use it with a sound device 302 so no auxiliary sends are available.thanks

A: The JK Audio Auto Hybrid is a basic passive telephone interface. It features a line level input and output on XLR. It will need to be sent a mix-minus signal as there is no control on the unit itself.

Q: 10. Does this work with VOIP? Or only POTS lines?

A: I've actually used this with an NEC DT700 which is a VOiP phone with a standard style handset. It worked pretty well. I would imagine that it works with any phone that has a standard RJ-11 handset connector.

We use these to create a tie into our ClearCom system from crew members outside the venue who need to be on comm with us for virtual events. One of these and an a tablet with a headphone jack - using any voice collaboration tool (Zoom, Teams, WebEx, etc) and you can set up a voice bridge for many tied into your Comm system. Works like a charm - with very good quality.

We're a group of radio stations that utilize these adapters with the JK Audio Remote Mix 4. The audio quality is excellent even if we need to use these adapters with a cell phone for a road game.

I have had a JK Audio Daptor Two for many years, I finally had an occasion to use it for the first time in a very long time (since the iphone came out). I purchased the TRRS cable and had excellent results. Audio in and out of the mixer was just like it is supposed to be. The Daptor Two is a great way to get caller in and out of a PA system.

Easy to use. Used it as the primary dial in line for a teleconference for 200+ people between US and France, in a location where we could not get an analog line. 2 hour call on a cell phone, no drop outs!

We are a small radio company and do a lot of sports broadcasts. We have three teams that are on the air twice weekly and we needed to outfit them with something to ensure that the games on the air. This was the perfect answer for the equipment we had. It was easily ordered, shipped quickly and arrived just in time for the start of our busy season.
