Providing performance at a reasonable price for most beginners, the Explore Scientific 52° Series 15mm Eyepiece produces a moderate power in most telescopes, and is a perfect addition to your observation arsenal.

Outfitted with a generous 52° apparent field of view, it employs a flat-field lens system that is treated with their proprietary Enhanced Multi-Layer Deposition (EMD) coatings to produce bright and clear views that are flat edge-to-edge. This lens design makes this eyepiece ideal for averted viewing techniques in which you view dim deep sky objects, such as wispy nebulae, indirectly using the portion of the eye that is most sensitive to light.

This model of the 52° series is offered here with a standard 1.25" barrel to make it compatible with the most popular size drawtubes and accessories. The eyepiece is argon-filled and O-ring sealed to be waterproof against condensation and dew and resistant to fogging. A textured collar provides a slip-resistant grip, especially in cold weather or while wearing gloves. A fold down rubber eyecup makes it comfortable and easy to view through, with or without eyewear.

Q: 2. What is the Outside Diameter of this focuser where it hooks to the telescope? Wanting to replace a bad focuser and need one 3.5" in diameter for the connection.

A: The Diameter of the Explore Scientific APO EDT Series Rack & Pinion Focuser (2") is 3 inches, so it won't fit a 3.5 ".

Q: 4. I have a celestron SE8, and would like to know if this would be a good choice for deep space viewing, and what accessories I would need to make this work?

A: Sure, you would need to upgrade into this Celestron 90-Degree Mirror Diagonal (2") for SCT Scopes BH #CEDM2S • MFR #93527 Being a 28 mm, the eyepiece would provide 72x . Note that the included 8se eyepiece is a 25mm, so in theory it would be similar to the magnification. Usually a much lower power is used, which would provide a wider view, like , Explore Scientific 62° Series 40mm LE Eyepiece (2") B&H # EXEPWP6240LE MFR # EPWP6240LE-01 or Tele Vue Plossl 55mm Eyepiece (2") B&H # TEEPL55P MFR # EPL-55.0

Q: 9. What is the thread size on the camera side? Is it M42x0.75 or M48x0.75? Does it include an M48 adapter?

A: On the camera side the threads are M42 for standard T-mounts.

Q: 10. Is it advisable to use a barlow lense with Televue eyepieces?

A: This is a fairly high powered Eyepiece. I would only go with a Barlow if you had a Scope with a large Objective around 8", and up.
